ASUS Launches Glossy 1440p WOLED Gaming Monitor

Today is a good day for those of you that have wanted a glossy OLED gaming monitor, as ASUS has launched the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMG, which is a glossy WOLED gaming monitor. The ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMG sports a 2560 x 1440 pixel WOLED display with a 240 Hz refresh rate and a 0.03 ms grey to grey response time. ASUS also claims up to 20 percent brighter image in SDR mode and deeper black hues under any lighting conditions, quite something to live up to. On the more technical side, the panel is said to offer a 1.5 million to one contrast ratio, support for 99 percent of the DCI-P3 colour space or 135 percent of the RGB colour space and it's should also have 10-bit colour support.

Connectivity wise, there will be disappointing sights from some, as the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMG relies on a single DP 1.4 with DSC and a pair of HDMI 2.0 ports for video inputs, which means the HDMI ports are limited to 144 Hz. It also only has two USB 3.2 Gen 1 5 Gbps ports and no USB Type-C input, although there's a headphone jack for those that want to use that. Other features include FreeSync Premium and G-Sync Compatible support, as well as ASUS' trace free technology, GamePlus, shadow boost and OLED care. No word on official pricing at this point in time, but it's non-glossy counterpart retails for US$900.

Update May 21st: ASUS has announced the offical pricing for the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMG and the MSRP is US$699, which makes it around US$200 cheaper than its non-glossy counterpart. It'll go on sale from the 30th of May.

LG Unveils Pricing and Full Specs on a Further Three UltraGear OLED Gaming Monitors

Following its high-end 4K UltraGear pricing reveal, LG has released the full specs and pricing on a further three SKUs that were also announced back in December of last year. The models in question are the 34GS95QE, 39GS95QE and 45GS95QE, all of which sport a 3440 x 1440 resolution. As the model names suggest, we're looking at 34, 39 and a massive 45-inch display panel in these monitors. Other common denominators are that all three models are curved at 800R and a 240 Hz refresh rate, as well as a 21:9 aspect ratio. All three models also feature FreeSync Premium Pro and G-Sync support, a 275 cd/m² typical brightness and a 0.03 ms GtG response time.

Inputs also appear to be shared across the range with all models offering two HDMI 2.1 inputs and one DP 1.4, plus one USB 3.2 Type-B input and at least a pair of Type-A outputs and a headset jack. The stands are limited to height, tilt and swivel adjustments due to the curved nature of the displays. Price wise, these new OLED models are unlikely to sell as hotcakes, as the 34GS95QE starts at US$1,299.99, followed by the 39GS95QE at US$1,499.99 and finally the 45GS95QE at US$1,699.99. Considering that there are similar displays with lower refresh rates from several competitors at far lower price points, LG is likely going to have to offer some hefty discounts for these new models before they start selling in any kind of quantity.

AGON by AOC—one of the world's leading gaming monitor and IT accessories brands - expands its AOC GAMING line-up by adding a QHD model to their G4 series, successor to their award-winning G2 series. Thanks to the Fast IPS panel with accurate colours and wide viewing angles, the Q27G4X excels at day-to-day tasks, too.

Monitors can outlast many other PC components, so choosing a future-proof, attractive gaming monitor proficient for any work, study, or gaming task one can throw at it, should be a no-brainer. The AOC GAMING Q27G4X is a perfect candidate thanks to its 27" Fast IPS panel that combines high colour accuracy and a large gamut coverage with a high refresh rate of 180 Hz and low response times up to 1 ms GtG. Thanks to its 10-bit panel, the monitor achieves a large gamut by reproducing 1.07 billion colours. Certified with VESA DisplayHDR 400, the Q27G4X can receive HDR10 signal and reproduce HDR content, upping the game and video visuals with extra brightness and punchy colours. Greater clarity in text as well as sharper edges and details in games are ensured thanks to its 109 ppi pixel density. Current mainstream GPUs are already capable of achieving high refresh rates on QHD resolution for most contemporary games, allowing users to enjoy a smoother gaming experience from day one. The benefit of rich and true colours will shine when watching movies or playing games but also when producing content such as light image/video editing or whilst livestreaming.

AGON by AOC Introduces G4X Series Fast IPS Gaming Monitors

AGON by AOC - one of the world's leading gaming monitor and IT accessories brands - is starting off the year with the introduction of a whole new gaming monitor series for its AOC GAMING line-up. Being the successor to the award-winning G2 series, the new G4 series boast a completely new sleek design. The 23.8" (60 cm) AOC GAMING 24G4X and the 27" (68 cm) 27G4X feature Fast IPS panels for accurate colors and wide viewing angles, an even faster 180 Hz refresh rate, up to 1 ms GtG response times, and NVIDIA G-SYNC compatibility. With cutting-edge features and a bold appearance, the new models are ready to up the gaming experience for enthusiasts and e-sports competitors alike.

Raising the bar for entry-level gaming monitors, both monitors feature a 180 Hz refresh rate, ensuring smooth and responsive gameplay. In line with their 24" and 27" display sizes, the Full HD (1920x1080) resolution allows gamers to achieve high framerates with most mainstream GPUs. By employing colour-accurate Fast IPS panels with wide viewing angles, the monitors are able to handle light image/video editing or livestreaming tasks outside gaming. With response times of up to 1 ms GtG thanks to the use of Fast IPS panels, these models are made for gamers who demand utmost precision and clarity, letting them frag their opponents more easily in FPS, battle royale or similar fast-paced titles, making ghosting a concern of the past. The monitors support HDR10 too, receiving HDR signals for vivid and dynamic visuals. Both models are NVIDIA G-SYNC compatible, eliminating tearing and stutter for smooth gameplay action using a variable refresh rate.

The LG UltraGear 27GS95QE OLED Gaming Monitor Now Available for C$1200

Announced just before the Christmas holiday, LG's UltraGear 27GS95QE is now starting to become available for purchase. The differences between it and its predecessor, the 27GR95QE are very minor and the only obvious specification change is a bump in SDR brightness from 200 nits to 275 nits typical brightness. That said, the older 27GR95QE didn't quite manage to meet the 200 nits figure in reviews. Likewise the claimed 1000 nits HDR brightness wasn't achieved by the older model either and although LG is sticking to the same peak HDR brightness, it's possible that this has been improved as well, as the older model didn't go much beyond 600 nits in reviews.

The UltraGear 27GS95QE retains the matte AG coating, so those hoping for a glossy display are out of luck as well. TFT Central believes that the 27GS95QE is using a new WOLED panel from LG Display that is technically capable of reaching 1300 nits, but this is currently just speculation. Converting C$1200 to US$, suggests that the MSRP is likely to be US$899 plus taxes, which means the new models will be around U$100 cheaper than the old model in terms of MSRP. For anyone that isn't overly concerned about the brightness, the older 27GR95QE has been discounted by LG in the US and is now going for US$750, which is a US$250 discount on the US$999 MSRP. The lower MSRP of the new models appears to suggest that OLED pricing are slowly coming down in price, but it appears we're going to have to wait another couple of years before they reach more mainstream pricing.

INNOCN Gaming Monitors at 2024 CES: OLED and Fast IPS with MiniLED Dominate

INNOCN brought its latest gaming monitors to the 2024 International CES; it didn't waste out time with monitors based on 15 year old tech; but rolled out the very latest—IPS with miniLED backlighting, and OLED. The Titan Army P27A6V is a 27-inch planar display with 4K Ultra HD resolution and a blistering 144 Hz refresh rate (which is high, considering this is 4K). This display uses an IPS panel with miniLED backlighting, and meets DisplayHDR 1000 spec. Display connectivity include HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4, both of which provide enough bandwidth of 4K HDR @ 144 Hz. Brilliant stuff, but this is "only" a 27-inch display, which will incur Hi-DPI scaling. Need something bigger? Check out the Titan Army P32A6V, which has identical specs to the P27A6V, but in a larger 32-inch planar format. Both these displays come in gunmetal gray and matte-white body color variants.

Switching up gears is the INNOCN M27E6V, a 27-inch planar display with a Fast IPS panel paired with miniLED backlighting. This one provides 4K Ultra HD with even faster 160 Hz refresh rate, and support for HDR 1400, and 99% coverage of DCI-P3. Inputs include DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.1, and USB type-C (DisplayPort passthrough). You can use the monitor in single cable mode if the USB-C connection is capable of delivering 90 W. The next premium display is the Titan Army G27E8S, a 26.5-inch planar display that uses an OLED panel, and meant for performance gaming. You get a lower WQHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution than the other three displays we mentioned so far; but at higher 240 Hz refresh rate, and under 0.5 ms GTG response time, thanks to the OLED panel. Inputs include DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.1. The display meets HDR10 spec.

ASRock at CES 2024: New Phantom Gaming Monitors, Recent Motherboard and VGAs

ASRock brought a selection of its recently launched gaming monitors, motherboards, and graphics cards, to the 2024 International CES. The company had recently refreshed its Intel 700-series chipset motherboard family to align with 14th Gen Core desktop family launch, and we see boards such as the Phantom Gaming Z790 NOVA, a full-featured ATX motherboard positioned just a notch below the Z790 Taichi series; and the the Z790I and B760I PG Lightning WiFi Mini-ITX boards. Toward the end of 2023, AMD had launched its Ryzen Threadripper 7000 series, with two distinct platforms in play—HEDT and workstation. We got a close look at the WRX90 EVO, a gargantuan board that wires out nearly all 128 PCIe Gen 5 lanes of the Threadripper; along with 8-channel DDR5 memory. Notice the two large VRM heatsinks that are actively cooled by 40 mm fans. Even after giving each of the PCIe Gen 5 slots full x16 wiring, the platform has enough to spare on some NVMe slots.

The flagship offer and the star of the monitor show at GIGABYTE's CES 2024 event was certainly the AORUS OLED monitor lineup, including the CO49DQ, MO34WQC2, FO32U2P, and the FO48U. It is AMD FreeSync Premium certified, has 0.03 ms GTG response time, has integrated KVM switch, and offers two DisplayPort 1.4 and two HDMI 2.1 inputs. The CO49DQ is also another one that peaked our interest, and although it does not include the KVM switch, this 49-inch 10-bit OLED monitor with 5120x1440 resolution offers impressive picture quality with 99% DCI-P3 but sticks with 144 Hz refresh rate. It is also AMD FreeSync Premium certified and has two DisplayPort 1.4 and two HDMI 2.1 inputs, but lacks integrated KVM switch.

ASUS Teases 4K 240 Hz ROG Gaming Monitor with 1080p 480 Hz Mode

Just like LG and HP, ASUS is gearing up to launch a dual mode 4K 240 Hz / 1080p 480 Hz OLED monitor and the company has released a little teaser ahead of the official CES 2024 reveal of the monitor. The display will unsurprisingly fall under ASUS' ROG brand and will be known as the ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDP and spec wise it appears to use the same OLED panel as LG's 32GS95UE and possibly HP's Omen Transcend, since all three monitors should feature the dual mode option of 4K 240 Hz or 1080p 480 Hz. ASUS claims that the PG32UCDP is "the world's first dual-mode gaming monitor" which we've already seen isn't the case, but it's still the matter of who will be first to offer their displays in the retail market.

Interestingly, ASUS announced the similar ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM at Gamescom 2023, which was said to offer a QD-OLED display with a 4K resolution and a 240 Hz refresh rate. The PG32UCDM appears to lack the 1080p 480 Hz mode though, but with only one letter difference in the model name, potential buyers are going to have to pay close attention so they don't end up with the wrong display. We're going to have to wait for a release and review of the displays before we'll know which one is the better of the two ASUS models.

Achieving a peak brightness of 1000 nits and certified with VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400, it showcases radiant visuals, deeply saturated with 1.07 billion colours thanks to its 10-bit colour depth, covering 99% of the DCI-P3 colour range. With exceptional HDR reproduction, the PD49 becomes a window to magnificent game worlds in story-driven, single-player games. With an e-sports ready refresh rate of 240 Hz and a performant response time of 0.03 ms Grey-to-Grey (GtG), ghosting becomes a relic of the past. Thanks to the inclusion of Adaptive-Sync for variable refresh rate support, every game sequence flows with tear-free, immersive continuity.
