Uhm, 120MB driver... what's going on? How big does a driver need to be?

This driver version adds support for NVIDIA PhysX acceleration on all
GeForce 8‐series, 9‐series, 100‐series, and 200‐series GPUs with a minimum
of 256MB dedicated graphics memory and a minimum of 32 processor cores

Heh, so now they sort of tell us what is the minimum card required for PhysX. Already know my 8500GT isn't fast enough and it has 16 shaders. So it 8600GT/9500GT and up that have the minimum of 32 shaders.

edit: Apparently not for Fallout 3 these drivers. Causes GT200 cards to go back and forth on 2D/3D clocks. Passing these then, as I'm currently playing it and works great with 186.18. (power management to constant 3D will likely fix that)

A lot of Nvidia drivers have been this general size for a while. While it seems big its not really if you have a 750gb hard drive. Its all the optimisations for specific games i think.

So how are these drivers?

Im still using 182.08 and thinking about getting the latest, but i don't want there to be a bunch of errors and performance problems.

Figures, I have a LAN party today, and I just throught I had my computers ready, and not the first thing I have to do when I get there is download and install new drivers...

These drivers support a lot of cards, and include the Physx software. That is why it is so big, it is a downside of having a universal driver that continues to support the older cards. I'd rather have continued support for older cards and a larger driver download than a small download and no support for 2 year old cards.

The driver is big because it bundles PhysX system software. GeForce drivers before bundling PhysX were half this size.

Legends,

I think this issue is heat related. Download and install EVGA precision or Rivatuner and manually set the fan speed to 100% before u start the game. I had this issue during gaming and setting the fan speed to 100% made this problem go away!

Lets know how it goes!!
