Galaxy Unveils First Single-Slot Air-Cooled GeForce GTX 260 Accelerator

Constantly innovating new graphics cards designs, Galaxy pushed the limits of engineering by coming up with the first GeForce GTX 260 with a single-slot air cooler. To achieve this, the company designed its own long cooler based on the Vapor Chamber (VC) technology. A VC plate sits on top of the GPU and the aluminum base-plate of the cooler (to cool the memory) On top of the VC plate is a dense copper channel array through which air directed by the blower passes. There is a separate heatsink over the VRM area, which cools off under the air-flow from the main cooler.

The entire set of heatsinks is neatly packed under an aluminum shroud. The card packs standard features of the GeForce GTX 260, including 216 shader processors, 896 MB of GDDR3 memory across a 448-bit memory interface, 3-way SLI support, and support for DirectX 10. Connectivity options include one each of DVI-D, HDMI, and S-Video/composite. It draws power from two 6-pin PCI-E power connectors. Availability and pricing of this card is not known just as yet.

I think it looks very nice :)

I'm tired of CGI anime girls and flames. This looks neat and professional.

Folding madness card. 7 of these in one rig would be awesome.

That'd be great for 3x SLI. Instead of having a brick of cards with a millimeter between each, they'll all have breathing room.

Same here! I think it's a great idea. Now I want to see some benchmarking temps.;)

Id like to see how it performs first, Galaxy non-reference coolers aren't the greatest. Lots of copper is def a plus.

Edit: I just thought of this. What are the clocks?

This look's really nice, a little too late though, i wish they start making pure copper coolers.

chances are it's bone stock to keep temps down.

i really want one so I can TRi SLi on mt P6T Deluxe V2, one of my slots will only house a 1 slot thick card...

aCid888*I see the application of the single slot cooler....I just dont see it keeping this card cool enough for even a modest overclocking venture.

Think 8800GT, how bad was the stock cooling on that? Even the revised edition with the bigger opening for the fan wasn't great.

What annoys me the most with this card is the fact the fan blows hot air backwards as opposed to blowing it towards the blanking plates...this will be an issue for smaller cases like I'm sure it was intended to be used in.
Not everyone overclocks. Furthermore its using a vapor chamber which is just a huge heatpipe. You cant compare this to nvidia's reference coolers which just use a heatpipe-heat isnt spread properly,in this its spread to all the fins and with enough air moving past its not hard to see how it could run in a safely. Besides the GTX260+'s doesnt even run that hot, furthermore its a die shrunked GPU. Think G80 and G92.

would have been better if they used solid state power phases to allow for the vapor chamber to be larger.

I was thinking maybe lower. Sacrifice clock to reduce heat.
