With the USB cable cord tucking into the slit that goes around the side of the HDD, the SH93 is beautifully designed with finish paint in racing car yellow. It is easy for users to conveniently carry around massive documents without the fear of damaging files stored in the HDD in the incident of accidental drop or water spills. The portable HDD has become the most important storage device for road warriors, students, even ordinary individuals in this digital era. With the ever increasing amount of photos, music, video files, and data, the need for high-capacity HDD with extreme durability is constantly expanding. Capacity available in 250GB, 320GB, 500GB, and 640GB, the SH93 offers maximum shock tolerance and greatest possible chance of data survival if the storage device is accidentally dropped on the floor or in the water.
All A-DATA portable hard drives come with the free-download value-added applications HDDtoGO (no registration required), Norton Internet Security 2009 (60-day trial) and 3-year product warranty period, from which users can enjoy enhanced mobility and security with just few mouse clicks away. "Extremem Durability" seems a little over-the-top too.
Let me know when the thing can surivive at 3 atmospheres (about 30 meters down) and I'll consider getting one.
@Meiz .. Didn't you know that A-Data's USB stands for Underwater Shielded Bus?
Yes, I scuba dive... yes im active... but i dont expect to take my portable hardrive with me when i do this lol....
I use my pc when im clothed and dry (unless checking out dirty pornos then im covered in cream :D :D :D lol kidding!!!
whats next a drive you can take into the bath with you :P
It's when they label a product as "Extreme (fill in the blank)" that I get miffed.
There is nothing extreme about spilling something on your hard drive or dropping in a puddle.
Here is extreme ...
You're on your boat. There is a leak in the gas line of which you are unaware.
Someone lights up a cig and the boat gets blown out of the water and then sinks.
Everyone is rescued by the Coast Guard and recover in the hospital for several weeks.
A couple of months later you go looking for the drive that went overboard in 60+ ft. of water.
You find it, it has a few barnacles growing on it but it still works.
That's "Extreme Durability".
Yah, I'm just venting. Everything is extreme these days. Pfft.
Usually have to program controller's on a control pannel outside of the plant... And I have alot of data to carry around, so I think this is a good idea for a external HDD for the extreme conditions (snow or its raining) and just waterproof is a key so I dont have to worry about it being wet
not to mention it would still need power, which means a metal on metal electrical connection that also would not like water
I think the point of this is exactly what i needed it for. About a month ago i was living in a tent where it started leaking at the seams. My 2.5 carries all my valuable data like pictures and stuff. Years of pictures. I was afraid of the drive getting wet so i would take it everywhere with me. Something like this would prevent that worry (like somebody mentioned). Its not ZOMG EXTREME CONDITION HARDDRIVE!!!!11111oneoneoneone eleven. But you get the point.
You are the tipical Nerd/Geek of your class, and to make fun of you, your classmates invite you to a party at the beautiest girl house, wich have a swimingpool. You put your nices cloth on you, becuz you are totally inlove of the hottie, and go to party, not without thinking first, "hey, what if someone takes a notebook, with some cool, videos, movies, software or games? I cant miss to copy that!". Then you grab your portable hdd and hit the place.
As soon as you arrive, you walk a side the pool when your personal bully push you sorprisely to the water!
You take your wet skinny/fatty body out the pool to stand at everyone laugths.... but, HELL YEAH! Dont worry for your stored data!
Take out your Xtreme HD an smile at everyone! On your face Scott!!! Now who is the looser!!! WHO IS THE LOOSER!!!!
