Crysis to be a PC exclusive

Crytek's beautiful upcoming Sci-Fi shooter, Crysis, is to be available for the PC only. In the past, Crytek has produced four Far-Cry games, only one of which(the original) was for the PC. With their latest game, however, there are no plans for a console release.
"It crossed our minds," said Yerli on the next-gen question, "but we're sticking with PC. One thing about our company is that we want to focus, we don't want to do multiple things, we want to do one thing and do it well. PC is our focus right now, we were born there and we want to showcase what we can do there, before we made any move onto consoles."
The game is slated for a Q1 2007 release.

Yeap... you heard 100% correct!! :D I think this game will be the next big game. Which will make all HL2 or Farcry games look and feel like an old 8bit game!!? :D

Lol. I suspect this game is going to be like a modern Far-Cry. The foliage is absolutely amazing. A lot of the cool graphics and environment items are going to be thanks to them using their own specialized engine, CryENGINE 2.

My PC won't be on it's knees... the CryEngine will take a look, laugh, and then throw all my hardware into the (beautiful) Far Cry 2 oceans, never to be seen again. I really need to upgrade when DX10 comes out. I keep meaning to buy a new AGP card to last me until then, but stuff keeps breaking and need replacing.

Lets hope CryTek knows how to fight the beast :banghead:

I think they'll be keeping this strictly pc guys. Consider what is would take to port a next gen DX10 game to the Xbox360. I think they're going to stick with pc games for a while.

Quite some time, I expect. The groundwork for this game was laid with the original far-cry, if you think about it. They've been revising and expanding on their original cryengine since then, and they've had two years to work on their foliage, what with all the far-cry spinoffs. I can't say I'm dissappointed with the results. :D I wonder how they're rendering all this stuff. They must be working with a prerelease version of DX10. I can't imagine that's fun or easy. :respect:
