AMD developer page reveals HD 5800 Mobility Series

AMD's Catalyst PC Vendor ID List has been updated to reflect their latest product updates, which surprisingly includes "ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5800" models.

The models listed are "Broadway XT", "Broadway Pro/LT". While it is certain that Broadway XT will become the Mobility Radeon HD 5870, sources differ whether Broadway Pro/LT will be two distinct products initially: Mobility Radeon HD 5850 and Mobility Radeon HD 5830 or if there will be only a Mobility Radeon HD 5850 product first.

In addition to these confirmed models there are rumors about that describe "Madison" (Mobility HD 5700) and "Park" (Mobility HD 5400). This would give AMD a full mobile DirectX 11 low-power GPU lineup to compete in the mobile market.

Here's hoping these find their way into the new 2010 Macbook Pro lineup. While I'm no big fan of Intel, I'd settle for supporting an AMD GPU in my purchase. Like most notebook hardware, TDP ought to be the most interesting factor behind these, so I'll save my real enthusiasm for when those numbers leak.

Paired with an Athlon II X3/X4, I might even get myself a lappy.

It will be interesting to see what they release in the FirePro arena for CAD/Rendering laptops.
From what I can tell the FirePro M7740 and the nVidia Quadro FX 3800M are pretty close in their respective abilities, with the M7740 supporting OpenGL 3.0 and the 3800M only supporting up to OpenGL 2.1

A dual-GPU m5970 type laptop would make the CAD guys wet their pants. lol

This with their gold lineup of Turion procs or whatever they are bring out next (or hell even fused with the cpu in the fusion chips) would be win win, especially given the low power of the 5xxx series. My wife's laptop has the nforce 6100 graphics in her lappy.Would love to get her one with this card in it, just because she is starting to do graphic intensive programs and school apps.

Most definitely! Can't wait! Prices shouldn't be too high, but with a little customization, who knows ;)

Sweet, But TBH, some Laptop Monitors can do 1920x1200 or 1920x1080, isnt a 5770 Plenty for Driving those resolutions in Gaming?

Impressive laptop mobile graphics indeed! What I'm most interested in though is IGPs though. In AMD's roadmap they said in 2010 there would be DX11 (Radeon HD 5000) IGPs for desktop and laptops. A DX11 IGP in a CULV would certainly help AMD's sales in the market (although their mobile CPUs in the CULV/netbook range are far too power hungry)

Keep in mind that despite the model numbers matching some pretty high end desktop parts, a mobility 5850 is not going to come close to a desktop 5850. Therefore those thinking that a 5750 is good enough to drive 1920x1200 resolutions, should wait and see some benchmarks before deciding that the same is true for a mobility 5750 (to pick one as an example).

After last year's Mobility HD4860 fiasco, I'm skeptical about AMD's ability to get any design wins at all for high-ends.
