Gigabyte Teases with Another G1-Killer X58 Motherboard Poster

As reported last month, Gigabyte has been working on a premium motherboard brand targeted at high-end gaming PCs, rivaling the Republic of Gamers (ROG) series from ASUS and Big Bang/XPower from MSI. One of the first products in this lineup is called "G1-Killer", and as it turns out is a socket LGA1366 motherboard based on the Intel X58 chipset. Gigabyte continues to tease us with new "cutout" pictures of the upcoming product. The latest poster shows a portion of the motherboard revealing the heatsink over the southbridge area, which is shaped like a 5.56 magazine, with even a round sticking out. One can also faintly see the six memory slots, four PCI-Express x16 slots, eight SATA ports (probably six 3 Gb/s and two 6 Gb/s). Said to be unveiled at CES 2011, the G1-Killer range is expected to start at US $299.

Why credit TechConnect when the wallpapers are readily downloadable from Gigabyte? www.gigabyte.com/MicroSite/259/index.html

And for those slating this board, you have no idea what you're in for, but hey, go ahead, trash talk something you've only seen a glimpse of...

No hate from me, but no excitement either. Not unless Intel has some new six-cores and/or price-cuts to go along with this and other late-release X58 boards.

What if I was looking for a board for my 7-year-old? It's her birthday on Wednesday! :)

All Gigabyte needed to do was drop the price of the UD9 to something reasonable, like $399.

I think it is very foolish to slag off about gigabyte boards, but in this case...I'm not too fussed about the bullet thingy.

More relevant question though.

WTF is that thing on the NB???????:wtf::wtf::wtf::wtf:

Yellow&Nerdy?
This board looks ridiculous. I seriously doubt that people that buy these kind of boards are FPS-boosting 9-year olds. And what's wrong with the UD9 or UD7? Guess they just had to jump on the gimmick train together with Asus and MSI.

They should of let the guys who designed their P67-boards design this too, because those boards look fantastic.

nice name, but from the picture it makes me think over again
for gaming rig (especially high end) the heatsink is not interesting at all , its like just square aluminum that painted black, even mid range board has hsf more attractive than this :banghead:
military look is a new trend, since MSI released military grade, sabertooth then gigabyte (maybe) wanna join the flow
