NVIDIA GeForce GTX 590 Is World's Fastest Graphics Card
NVIDIA today introduced the GeForce GTX 590, the fastest dual graphics card available today which also happens to be the world's quietest too. Powered by dual NVIDIA Fermi-class GPUs on a single card, the GTX 590 is designed for über enthusiasts and those looking to build the ultimate PC gaming rig.
With a combined 1024 NVIDIA CUDA architecture cores, 3GB of GDDR5 memory, 6 billion transistors and over 2200 individual components all packed into an 11 inch dual slot card, the GTX 590 delivers a staggering 32 tessellation engines that can power today's cutting edge DX11 games at resolutions of 2560x1600 and higher. With four separate video outputs on each card, consumers can configure their PC with four independent displays, or they can span their gaming across 3 3D displays, at a resolution up to 5760x1080 for an intense, immersive, stereoscopic gaming experience utilizing NVIDIA 3D Vision Surround technology.Like all NVIDIA "DX11 Done Right" GPUs, the GTX 590 delivers the world's fastest performance for DX11 games(i). And with NVIDIA SLI technology, the industry's most scalable multi-GPU platform, gamers can increase their PC's gaming performance by adding a second GeForce GTX 590, for an incredible Quad SLI gaming mode.
NVIDIA engineered the GTX 590 to be the world's quietest dual GPU product. It features a special cooling system and dual vapor chambers which deliver both astounding performance and acoustics. Measured with a standard decibel meter, the GTX 590 clocks in at 48dB, more than two times quieter than the closest competitive product under full graphics load. To the human ear, this difference means the GTX 590 delivers a 3D gaming experience that is typical of a quiet library. In comparison, the competition's product is more on par with a busy freeway.
"The GTX 590 is the best dual GPU product ever built," said Drew Henry, general manager of GeForce GPU business at NVIDIA. "With leading performance, support for multi-monitor 3D gaming, Quad SLI, and an acoustic envelope that begs to be heard for how quiet it is, the GTX 590 epitomizes what a perfect dual graphics card looks, performs, and sounds like."
With an estimated selling e-tail price starting at $699 USD, the GeForce GTX 590 is available starting today from the world's leading add-in card partners, including Asus, EVGA, Gainward, Gigabyte, Inno3D, MSI, POV, Palit, and Zotac.

boner killer.
They don't necessarily believe the stuff that's in the press release.
EDIT LOL that's my bad eyes I was misreading the 550 as the 560 but they still don't compare to other trusted reviews
If we removed Far Cry 2 from the results, we would actually have the GTX 590 to be 2% slower than the Radeon HD 6990. It's also interesting to note that a vast majority of the GTX 590's losses were in DX11 titles: S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat (-15%), Metro 2033 (-20%), Battlefield Bad Company 2 (-9%), and Aliens vs. Predator (-10%).
Besides its 46.3% lead in Far Cry 2, the single GPU GTX 580 was also 22.5% faster than the HD 6990. The rest of the games, including Mass Effect 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops, F1 2010, Splinter Cell Conviction and World in Conflict all favored the GeForce GTX 590 by a margin of just 6% or less. Therefore, we think both dual-GPU cards are evenly matched and considering the GTX 590's $699 MSRP, Nvidia seems to think so, too.

Great review by Wiz.
I have been reading all over the internet and so far the 6990 is winning by 4-5 frame rates. The 590 is quieter yea, however the 6990 so far wins.
26vs28fps...
7.6% faster @ metro, not -20%. I don't know how you got that:confused:
Also the 590 did worse on Far Cry 2... so wth man
Don't get me wrong..
But I'm utterly disgusted with this card...I'm disgusted by the 6990 as well
I didn't want to see the 590 slightly faster than the 6990...I wanted to see like a 20% stomping across the board..I wanted to see unrealistic results and I sure didn't want to hear about the card blowing up...
Now as it stands the consumer gets screwed as the two companies piss a centimeter further than the other with each new release.....I think maybe it would be better if they held it in a little longer and sprayed us from farther away.
hw-lab.com/specs-for-amd-radeon-hd-7990-disclosed.html
HD7970 may have 3072 SPs(speculated, VL4W design, double Cayman aka HD6970)
That puts HD7990 to 6144 SPs, this is fake from the 1st row of the chart...
I just read the Tom's Hardware review too. I give the advantage to the 590 in multi-monitor setups and quad sli setups (www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gtx-590-dual-gf110-radeon-hd-6990,2898-15.html).
Fanboys can complain that the drivers aren't polished, but there is no excuse for bad drivers. The 6990 has been out for a while now. It should have shipped with working drivers. Christ, there is a game where the dual-6990 setup doesn't even work, and one where the fps is exactly the same as the single card setup. They need to get back in gear, this shouldn't be a prob for amd(www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gtx-590-dual-gf110-radeon-hd-6990,2898-14.html).
Nvidia takes a lot of shit for power consumption, fan noise and size. They make the 590 smaller and quieter than the 6990, and the AMD fans across web are like "oh, well now that doesn't matter.":wtf: its like arguing with gf, no logic allowed; only euphamisms, speculations, misinterpretations, learning disorders and figurative language in this house! "Damned if you do, damned if you don't."
Plus, people argue that the dual-580 is cheaper. Yes it is. But the dual gpu cards serve a purpose: you need better power consumption vs two seperate cards, or you need the other expansion slots. These two cards serve that purpose. Plus the dual 580's draw insane power in comparison:eek:

I like my 580 but these 590 sparky smokey affairs make me laugh. BUT... it is stable in non overclocked mode and maybe the newer drivers will give a more mature performance. It does seem they released too early.
People seem to forget as well that these cards are performing (game dependent) within a few % of the 6990, either better or worse. Most peeps were saying at those clocks it would stink but it isn't (apart from the burning smell!).
Still, both cards are stupid. One is way too noisy and unrefined, the other is quite quiet and on fire.
so maybe the 3D in 3D Vision stands for 3 Display ?
