Corsair Announces Vengeance Low Profile High-Performance DDR3 Memory Kits

Corsair, a worldwide designer and supplier of high-performance components to the PC gaming hardware market, today announced Vengeance LP, the latest addition to the award-winning Vengeance Series high-performance DDR3 line.

Vengeance LP memory features heat spreaders with a reduced height of 1.03" (26.25 millimeters), compared to the standard height of 1.87" (47.37 millimeters). These modules are designed for high-performance systems with extra-large CPU coolers, small form factor system builds, or other space-constrained applications that prevent the use of standard Vengeance memory.
Vengeance LP memory kits will be available in a variety of colors, including Jet Black, Cerulean Blue,and a Special Edition Arctic White. Like the original Vengeance, all Vengeance LP modules are designed to operate at 1.5V, making them ideal for use in 2nd Generation Intel Core processor systems. The Special Edition Arctic White models operate at the ultra-low voltage of 1.35V.

"Our new low-profile Vengeance LP memory gives enthusiasts more freedom and flexibility in building high-performance PCs."

Vengeance Low Profile memory kits will initially be available in the following configurations. All module kits are compatible with current Intel and AMD platforms. Corsair Vengeance LP memory kits will be available in June from Corsair's worldwide network of resellers and distributors.

Good. I'm tired of tall spreaders on ram. I think it looks stupid.

agreed, you dont even need the tall heatspreaders and its rather stupid really as the only way to use them is on water or with stock cooler, so the tall heatspreader design kinda just fucks everyone over in the long run lolz

good to see but id still go for some ripjaws, they are pretty low and look great. they are alos better valve atleast at the store im looking at.

well i know on aP67 board the ripjaws will NOT clear under a Thermaltake FRIO cause strain and stress to the DIMM slots. so it really depends on the cooler.

Gonna upgrade within a few months' time to DDR3 platform and I'll certainly keep that "Special Edition Arctic White" version in mind.

I certainly do. I don't want any standard green PCB in my system. It ruins the efforts you go through to get nice looking parts.

lol Danish Devil i kinda have to agree id love to see some standard height heatsinks, infact i think if possible i wont actually buy this ram im gonna look from a ram kit that i can remove the heatsinks from and ill replace the heatsinks with my own that ill custom paint. save myself the hassel of shitty overly tall heatsinks AND green pcbs lol

The main reason I haven't bought more corsair ram is because I need low profile heat spreaders. The tall stuff would prevent my heatsink to be mounted. Glad to see they are going with the lp stuff.

I kinda like them on my Corsair Dominators. Though i do admit they are a bit impractical. I had to rotate my AXP-140 for 45 degrees in order to even install both, cooler and Dominator RAM's.

I don't get it. Is green dye cheaper than black dye? I mean why do ram manufacturers keep going through this cycle of releasing ram with a green pcb, getting complaints before finally giving in and doing black dye. G.skill has switched dyes like that on existing models a half dozen times cause of that. You'd think they'd learn by now.

Smaller spreaders serve an actual functional purpose: more cooler clearance.

I like the idea of beffier cooling on ram, but it was making choosing a large aftermarket cooler difficult, I'm glad Corsair came to it's senses.

meh heatsinks arent even really neccesary... again they were original designed to help against interference.... not cooling... and i cant rememeber anyone proving tall heatsinks actually lower temps compared to regular heatsinks etc?

Temperature reasons are less valid for DDR3 as for DDR2 anyway. They're mostly meant to look cool, which is why I argue against green PCB.

which is a valid argument but we also know that if ram runs jedec specs it really dosent need heatspreads and thats DDR2 included ;) but i will agree you start getting low latency kits pushing higher clocks then yea heatspreaders are nice.. dosent change the fact heatspreaders werent really ment for heat lol. and i agree they are for looks

but if those looks mean you cant use 90% of the coolers on the market then what good are they right? its about time some low profile heatsinks came into the market. hell id love to see some crucial ballsitics with the short Heatspreaders at 1600 and 1866mhz speeds.

and i kinda of agree green pcb is yuck but.. i can live with that in a case where my cooler will cover the ram anyway haha
