New Portal 2 DLC Imminent – and It’s Free!

It took somewhat longer than expected, after having been promised for the summer and then a couple more times, but now this fresh new DLC called Portal 2: Peer Review will be released to eagerly waiting Portal 2 fans on October 4 on PC (Steam), PS3 & Xbox 360 platforms. This is a hard date, so there should be no more slips.
The DLC includes content for both solo and co-op campaigns. In particular, the story of P-Body and Atlas, the two co-op robots continues in Peer Review "as you puzzle your way through a mysterious new co-op test track and once again match wits with GLaDOS." On top of that, there's a new challenge mode for both single player and co-op, including a leaderboard, allowing players to size themselves up against their competitors.

Finally, coinciding with this announcement, the last of the three soundtrack volumes has today been released as a free download. All 64 songs making up the three volumes can be downloaded from here. Note that ringtones for Android & iPhone devices have been included.

Considering Valve's consistently high quality output, this release is expected to be an instant hit with fans of Portal 2. Can't wait.

"See, this is how to make a gaming community love you. Now what have you learned EA, Activision?"

"Rape wallets!! Rape wallets!!!"

"You two were bullies in school weren't you?"

"Were not! We just showed people there was a better use for their lunch money!"

Build a game to stand on it's own without DLC and not suck! Don't build a game that relies on DLC to stay afloat unless you are doing a F2P model or MMO.

Paid DLC has made devs lazier and sloppier. Whats worse is you get ones like Dragon Age II which announce DLC even before the game launches. Really, finish the game first!!

What valve has been doing with portal 2 is the perfect way to do DLC, the option to pay for skins, hats, flags, gestures etc which many people do pay for but then when it comes to adding more maps and features doing so for free.

It seams like the best way possible as valve gets DLC money and the gamers get more content, it's a win win situation.

I'm like Kreij, I still need to finish the single player (Quite a way through it) and I haven't even attempted the coop yet.

Free DLC is brilliant news and just adds to an already incredible sequel.

Fun fact: the downloadable soundtracks are encoded by iTunes. You can see it in the id3 tags.

I have to confess that I've finished single player, but not even tried multiplayer.

I must say i'm almost jealous of those who have not finished the game, i probably spend too much time gaming but it was not long after release that i had pushed through to the end of both single player and co-op and really puzzle games like portal have very little replay value or at least in the short term, so i have been very eager for the DLC to come out as i was left wanting more.

To all of you who have not played all of the single player and the co-op i say launch it now :p

Especially co-op. While singleplayer is awesome and has a VERY moving ending, co-op with a friend next to you on the couch mind you is downright superb. The puzzles are a lot harder and require quite a lot of skill and timing. And two brains can come up with ridiculous solutions that sometimes even work lol.

Disclaimer: I have Portal 2 on PC and PS3, played trough singleplayer on PC, and coop on PS3.

Sounds like a plan. Will have to be from tomorrow evening, as I'm booked up today. I'm actually going to do some Real Life activities instead of spending 100% of my time on here. Can you believe that?! I can feel the withdrawal symptoms already...

Like the test card avvy, btw. :D
