EVGA's GeForce GTX 580 Classified Ultra 3 GB graphics card goes on sale

Outed last week, the highly-customized GeForce GTX 580 Classified Ultra from EVGA has become available for purchase, 'coincidentally' just before AMD launches the Radeon HD 7970.

This new, GF110-powered model features 512 CUDA Cores, GPU/shader clocks of 900/1800 MHz (772/1544 MHz stock), a 384-bit memory interface, 3 GB of GDDR5 memory set to 4212 MHz (4008 MHz), a 14+3 phase power design, a dual-slot cooler, 4-way SLI and EVBot support, one NEC Proadlizer, Super Low ESR SP-Cap capacitors, and high frequency 3 MHz shielded inductors.

The GeForce GTX 580 Classified Ultra costs $619.99 and can be found @ Newegg.

Exactly my thoughts.

Did I see 2x 8-pin AND 1x 6-pin PCIe power connectors there? Don't want that in my system, especially not 4 of those... ;)

Kepler is a few month's away. Likewise; Tempting but Too Late and Too Expensive.

It doesn't necessarily mean it needs all that much PCIe power to work, they are there if you want to reach 1,300 Mhz core on exotic cooling

Although being said this, you don't need all of that beef on the PCB if you don't bench so yes this is a much "nicher" product than high end cards.

I'll bet that one of these babies can run F@H without squealing, like my Zotac GTX 580 does. It's so annoying and the interference also propagates through the sound card, so I can't use it for this purpose.

And yeah, too late and too expensive. :ohwell:

Protip: Isolate the sound, add a drop of hot glue to insulate. Squeal gone. :)

Yep, and they have amortized the price of what appears to be a... (hum don't know what to make of that cooler), fancy heat chamber. EVGA might be figuring they’ll get to use it on the GK104 in a couple of months from now, but this for now will cover engineering and tooling costs.

Really too late, too expensive and once again EVGA proved that they have no imagination in design department. I would pick (in fact I did many months ago) MSI TF3 580.

Thanks, e. I think I'd have to start a separate thread on this one, lol. The problem is I don't know which coil is doing it and I can't run it without the cooler off (obviously) to find out. I guess I'd just have to shotgun all the coils for this and glue them all. :D
