ASRock Readies the Fatal1ty X79 Professional (LGA 2011) Motherboard

Since apparently six X79 motherboards aren't enough, ASRock is now putting the finishing touches on yet another LGA 2011 model, the Fatal1ty X79 Professional. This new, gamer-oriented board supports Intel's Sandy Bridge-E processors, and features a 2oz copper PCB, Premium Gold Caps, four DDR3-2400 memory slots, ten SATA ports (six are likely 6.0 Gbps while the rest are 3.0 Gbps), and four PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots enabling CrossFireX or 4-way SLI setups.

ASRock's latest Fatal1ty offering also comes with one PCIe x1 and two PCI slots, six USB 3.0 ports (four on the back plate, two more via a header), a debug LED, 7.1 channel audio, two eSATA connectors, one Fatal1ty mouse port (USB 2.0, allows users to set the mouse polling rate to 500 Hz), Gigabit Ethernet, a FireWire port, and a Clear CMOS button. Moreover, the board has UEFI BIOS, extras like the XFast USB and XFast LAN technologies, and is bundled with a 3.5-inch I/O panel providing two USB 3.0 ports.

The Fatal1ty X79 Professional has yet to be priced or dated but we'll keep an eye out for it.

If it has 6x sata 6.0gb ports some would not be native to the x79 chipset.

Yeah it's lame. The feature set on this and other Fatal1ty boards are enough but not overboard, very appealing. The name and face are silly though. The Z68 board had his face plastered on the bios screen. Hopefully they don't go that far with this one..

people get too hung up on this, if they can just look past the whole 'fatal1ty' thing (which isn't that big of a deal), this is actually a really decent looking board, you don't need to like the guy to use this board, as long as the hardware is good, count me in!

Well, sure I spent double the amount for my P67 Fatality as I would have spent for a P67 Extreme 4.....but come on, they're sexy boards and I'm happy it completely matches my system's colour scheme. Not to mention how hot the gold capacitors look on it.

Apart from that it's one of the few available for me locally with that much SATA ports, which I'm already using 7 of.

Edit: A slight correction to the news writer, this information seems to have slipped almost every reviewer of the ASRock Fatal1ty series. The 3.5" USB 3 panel is also a 2.5" drive caddy, just FYI ;)

At the end of the day, it's all about the hardware. I love the looks and component quality. The face though.. it's as douchey as putting an Apple sticker on ur car.. :)

With the P67 version you could get a bios without his mug on it. I hope that happens again.

Fatal1ty was once a Creative brand, and at one point, an OCZ brand.

I just thought the name Fatal1ty was like ROG to Asus but looks like it shared around.
