HiFiMAN Debuts Groundbreaking HE-400 Headphone

HiFiMAN, a leading designer/manufacturer of highly acclaimed headphones and portable audio products, announced their HE-400, a high performance, planar magnetic headphone with sensitivity so high (rated at 92.5dB) that it can be easily driven by a conventional amplifier or portable audio device such as an iPod. HiFiMAN HE-400 will be shipping in January 2012 with an MSRP of $399.

In addition to the excellent sound of the HE-400, special attention has been given to user comfort and ease of use. With lighter weight than typical full-size models, the HE-400 features specially-designed, over-the-ear earpads and a flexible cable so that the HiFiMAN headphones can be enjoyed for hours on end. For a differentiated cosmetic touch, the ear cups are finished in striking cobalt blue.
"The HE-400 is our least expensive, planar magnetic design yet offers advanced driver technology at this modest price point." explained Dr. Fang Bian, Founder and President of HiFiMAN. "Sonically it competes favorably with headphones costing far more and unlike most planar magnetic designs, the fact that it does not require expensive amplification to drive it, makes the HE-400 an even stronger value."

Key Features of the HiFiMAN HE-400:
  • Efficient - 92.5dB sensitivity, remarkable for planar magnetic design, does not require a special amplifier. Can easily be driven by portable devices such as iPod or iPhone
  • High Performance - specially treated, planar magnetic drivers with Neodymium magnet structure delivers new level of performance for this price point
  • Comfortable - lightweight with over the ear design with special earpads and flexible cable
  • Stylish - ear cups are finished in a striking cobalt blue
