EA Launches Legendary Franchise as Free-to-Play Title with C&C Tiberium Alliances

Phenomic, the Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: EA) studio dedicated to developing best-in-class free-to-play games, today announced that Command & Conquer Tiberium Alliances is now in open beta. The latest entry in EA's Play4Free portfolio of games, Command & Conquer Tiberium Alliances is a massively multiplayer online (MMO), browser-based, free-to-play strategy game that delivers a whole new way for players to experience the Command & Conquer Tiberium universe. Players harvest valuable resources, foster strategic alliances and engage in relentless battles as they strive for world domination. With in-game news and status feeds, players get frequent updates, creating a completely interactive and dynamic gameplay experience that has gamers strategizing, reacting, and adapting on the spot. The Open Beta goes live today globally, here.
Command & Conquer Tiberium Alliances breaks new ground by being the first free-to-play cross-platform, MMO strategy game. In the next few months, the game will offer cloud-saved data, accessible across web browsers and mobile devices, allowing gamers to play from home at their desktop or on the go from their smartphones or tablets.

Command & Conquer Tiberium Alliances is one of two highly-anticipated releases in the Command & Conquer franchise. In December 2011, it was announced that internationally acclaimed developer, BioWare are developing Command & Conquer Generals 2 utilizing the advanced Frostbite 2 game engine.

Actually EA offers few free games. It's not Red Alert 2 though, but they do offer these games for free:

- original Command & Conquer + addons
- Red Alert 1 + addons
- Tiberian Sun + addons

Even though i'd love to see Red Alert 2 with addon to be free but Tiberian Sun isn't bad either.
I's dark graphics atmosphere, dark music, futuristic units, hostile environments. And the game has laserz! Tiberian Sun still has a special place in my memory because of all that.

Several C&C Renegade fans have set up a team to create their own free-to-play Renegade game that's called Renegade X: Black Dawn which includes a single player and multi-player mode (this last part is not released yet); the single player game is already released this year: www.renegade-x.com/site/

The graphics look pretty good because the use of Unreal 3 engine.

This Renegade-x looks like UT2K4 update or what UT3 was supposed to be.
Thanks.
I knew some intelligent people would start making games again or mods of crap games to fix the developer insanity / failures.
