ASRock X79 Extreme11 New Iteration Pictured, Packs Stronger VRM

At CeBIT, ASRock already grabbed a lot of attention with its unveiling of the X79 Extreme11 motherboard. The motherboard was detailed to great lengths then. It appears like the design was still a work-in-progress, and the company has an even newer iteration. Pictured below is this latest iteration. You will notice how ASRock redid the CPU VRM. While the one shown at CeBIT packed a 16-phase VRM, this one steps it up to 24. On the obverse side of the PCB, it squeezed in chokes for all 24-phases, and compact Driver-MOSFET (DrMOS) chips for 12 (probably the other 12 are located on the reverse side of the PCB). The first iteration shown at CeBIT used LFPAK MOSFET design. A DrMOS combines up/down FETs and driver IC into a single, space-efficient package. Companies like Renesas have held interest in innovating with DrMOS chips, even compacting them further. The rest of the board is identical to the one pictured at CeBIT, except that the Creative Sound Core3D chip has the signature plastic cover over it, which can be found on Creative's Sound Core3D discrete sound cards.

...and I bet only two of them (top 2) are SATA6 on the X79 PCH, the next 4 are SATA3 on the PCH, and the rest use those lovely sata controllers near the bottom. With that many ports, the off-pch sata controllers better do RAID. :p

so they switched to intersil? analog i mean, they switched to analog from a chil digital controller?

ISL6367 which they use on Z77 boards now aren't digital like they say, they call it hybrid digital, same as MSI calls analog controllers. Why? Because it has SVID, which they have always had in analog PWMs, but the error feedback is still analog.

Edit: yea deff analog because digital PWM makers have no doublers that can support DrMOS like that. Intersil and uPI do tho lol. I guess they are taking gigabyte's place as phase overdoers.

This board is my kind of overdone i have been trying to justify x79
I may use this board to replace my X58A-UD7, but i like 1366.

Get AsRock to email us. It's as simple as that. I'll review a product from any board maker.;)

Both W1zz and myself have attempted to contact AsRock, but even finding an email address for their marketing department is difficult.

Could you reach out to another review site for contact info? Surely they're sending boards to someone.

So far i am not so sure i agree, i used google to bring up the website and clicked twice before having 3 sets of contact information in front of me labeled as sales and marketing contact :p although that could just be bad wording on their part.

I do not know if they are up to date or of use but i would like to see some ASRock motherboard reviews here.
