7 Comments on Acer Enriches its Best-Selling Family of Netbooks, Debuting the Aspire One 725
What i dont understand is they already have an ACER ONE 722 thats literally IDENTICAL to this 725 there are no differences in hardware apart from some slight cosmetic differences.
722 = 1.35Kg
725 = 1.2Kg
whoop-de-doo - a full 150grams lighter.
the 722 is so dirt cheap its dirty cheap, Its the dirtiest slut of cheap. its the slutiest dirtiest slut of cheap. its so dirty cheap that theres nothing it wont do for cheap.
Forget all the artsy fartsy new colours and the 150g weight saving from getting its balls shaved. The 725 will push prices of the 722 DOWN and since they are identical, it just makes the 722 better value for money unless youre an art/fashion student who prefers a more 'sculpted' or more outlandish 'in yo face' looks/designs that totally screams - Faaaaabulousssssssssssss. If that is truely the case then you sir are looking at the wrong kind netbook/laptop.
for the less tech savvy though or for the people who just dont care. Price drops will be a good thing, but i doubt the Acer ONE 722 will drop much further here in the UK. prices are already around $420 which is just crazy cheap. E-350/450 powered netbooks have really fluctuated in price though. one moment they are the same price as the 722 then next its back upto $560. - this is only for netbooks of course. nothing bigger the 11.6". I know there are some 15.6" E-350/450 powered laptops about and they cost the same as the netbook, but they tend to look extremely plasticky for me.
If it was the 28nm Krishna dual/quad cores still within the 18W TDP spec (preferably with an HD 6450 based GPU core with 160 stream processors), then that would be quite a worthy upgrade.
E-350's are decent when it comes to gaming but far from amazing, a bump in the clocks will bring in more people who like to game a little on the go.
