Dell Updates as Industry-leading Supplier of Displays Portfolio

Dell today announced the immediate availability of new displays that combine performance and value to enable customers amazing viewing experiences. The six new displays join Dell's industry-leading portfolio of solutions, which has once again ranked #1 in flat-panel display market share in North Americai, and #2 in flat-panel shipments worldwideii, according to DisplaySearch.

The newest additions to Dell's industry-leading portfolio of displays, the new P and E displays offer customers diverse solutions that help them get the most out of every environment.
"Our new displays have been enhanced with low-mount designs and LED backlights to deliver crystal clear viewing experiences for a variety of environments, enabling greater productivity for those looking to get the most out of their workforce," said Tim Griffin, Dell's vice president of displays and client peripherals. The P1913, P1913S and P2213 displays feature the perfect blend of productivity-boosting performance and comfort in an eco-conscious design with low power consumption for enterprises of all sizes that want to help limit carbon footprints. The P series displays offer a variety of convenient connectivity options including USB, DVI, VGA and DisplayPort 1.2, making them a perfect companion for any platform or system, as well as high dynamic contrast ratios that help produce amazing and vivid color details such as deep blacks and bright whites especially for moving images. The E1913, E1913S and E2213 displays offer brilliant color with great screen clarity, reliability and energy efficient features at a great value. Is Dell manufacturing these monitors, or is another company (such as Samsung) manufacturing these monitors and putting a Dell logo on them?

There I was, hoping the U2711 had been updated...

Shockingly poor resolutions on these displays. Not great gamut for a TFT in 2012. I really don't know who would buy a desktop display with just 900 in the y. Ten years ago it was 1280x1024 as the standard. 1600x1200 for the enthusiast. Now, in 2012, we get 1440x900, and 1280x1024. TEN YEARS LATER! Where's the progress!? Is Dell strategically that far behind (say, for the sake of argument) Apple?

Almost everyone is strategically far behind Apple in terms of desktop/mobile screen resolutions due to the retina displays.

Not 100% sure about this, but they're primarily made by LG.Philips IIRC.

Clearly these are for business use and research facilities. Not particularly for the average gamer or consumers. That should clear up why the specs and price range are the way they are.

I've been having a "retina" display for close to a decade now.
