I honestly feel AsRock Quality is superior today.

i think this is the problem with the stock market, even if a company is 100% profitable, once its not as profitable as some analyst thought it was, the share price goes down, the stock market based on demand for shares is one of the problems with capitalism

Im still happy with Gigabyte so this is no drama for me, as Alien said ive have seen and had to many issues with ASUS over the yrs. Pitty as there board are packed with features and look great.

I would like to comment about their India operations. Sales and support teams are pathetic at best. I had placed an order for Crosshair V Formula few days back and I didn't get delivery for month and a half after placing the order so I canceled it got a Gigabyte board. The very next day I got a call from Asus distributor in India(Rashi Peripherals Technologies) that they had got the board I had placed an order for. That time I got so pissed that I had a small fight with the sales person at their office. If this is the kind of support they have in a country like India I wish Asus goes bust soon. :banghead:

Motherboards constitute to 10% of ASUS' business. Yet it's a market leader.

Thing is with asus that, this year was probably the worst for them IMO. As i mentioned before, the other comapies came with amazing products:

Gigabyte with the sniper M, the Z77X-UD5H and UP7

MSI came with the Z77 Mpower, with a whole great line of Z77 mobos all in all

ASRock, stuff just keep getting better with them. The utterly awesome Extreme11 and Formula boards

Asus? P8Z77 boards... as usual... this and that... nothing eye-catching or differant.

Disappointed abit of them this year. I used the P7P55D boards and P8P67 and they were amazing but things are changing

There really is no bad Z77 motherboards from Asus, Gigabyte, ASRock or MSI. Heck, the Biostar TZ77XE4 was a kick ass product. Consumers have some good choices nowadays. This is also a contributing factor of Asus not making numbers.

Gigabyte, who is successful this year, they must have sent me 10 board this year.

ASUS... just two. The M5G and the M5F. They skipped me for whole sockets. NO FM2 boards, no normal Z77, no ROG X79...no wonder they don't sell anything.

Gigabyte sent me boards for every socket, refreshes of those socket choices a few months later, and some new products too. I have three Gigabyte boards sitting here even, to be reviewed yet. The end of the year for me in reviews is going to be LOTS of Gigabyte...and ZERO ASUS.


It just seems to me that ASUS isn't commited enough to showing their products properly, so this comes as ZERO surprise to me.



What's even more funny is that W1zzard asked me about ASUS product samples a few months ago.

My response:

"They still make motherboards?!?"


It's amazing how accurate that has turned out...:roll:


And oh, I hope some of you ASUS US marketing reps read this post. :D It's pretty sad when MSI, who I really kinda hate, sends me more boards than you guys :p

Today I just don't know Asus like I did when we first met. Back then Asus would come home with gifts like a P2B-D or BP6. It was a ride I'd never thought would end. Unfortunately the surprises once common became more and more sparse. Eventually it turned into the same tired routine every day, with nothing new or exciting ever initiated. My friends with younger manufacturers kept telling me stories of their passion for one another and while I was happy for them on the outside, jealously brewed on the inside. My suggestions to bring back the romance went in one ear and out the other. It would be later found out that Asus was seeing other markets! At this point however, it mattered little as the yearning for more brought me to the decision other couples may face in the same situation: it's was time to swap.

MSI, Gigabyte, ASRock and others! I had them all, sometimes multiple times. Each brought with them unique abilities, options, and experiences that made up for all that time I had with just one manufacturer.

I still call up Asus now and then, to see how it's going. The same old tired routine...

Like I'm just speaking the truth here. This is my shelf of parts right now. FM2 launched when? Oh, that AM3+ board I used for the 8350 review...I bought. The 6670..I bought. I give you guys as much, no, I give you guys MORE effort than anyone else, because your products are good. So what's lacking? Innovation? Nah, you guys have added quite a few new features. Pricing? Nah, pretty competitive...so...and really, you sending me products to review isn't the whole picture. Like really. :laugh:

I see it this way. CPU benchmarks are pretty much equal on every platform between all motherboard manufacturers and you are seeing great sub $200 motherboards by Asrock, Gigabyte,MSI and Biostar. The Asus ROG product is overpriced and that says it all.

I feel the features and such offered do offset that cost fairly, but yes, currently some ROG boards are priced a bit high compared to some other options out there. The M5G is a good deal, IMHO.

However, ASUS doesn't just sell ROG products.

Yes, the Crosshair V Formula I have now was yours...a retail board that had a USB problem that took like a year or so to get fixed? Maybe that's why I never got a review sample :p

Board works great today though, let me tell ya. I'm liking it with the FX-8350, they make a great combo.
