3DMark Cloud Gate Trailer Posted

If you're waiting for Futuremark's next big graphics benchmark app as eagerly as we are, we'll both have to put up with more teasers before its January 2013 launch. Here's one for the week. After posting pictures and a video of the hardware-intensive "Fire Strike" DirectX 11 game test two weeks ago, and following up last week with pictures of its more forgiving DirectX 10 game test titled "Cloud Gate," Futuremark posted its trailer this week. Unlike with Fire Strike, for which Futuremark urged viewers to watch the video at 1440p (2560 x 1440, original) resolution, Cloud Gate is recorded at 1080p (1920 x 1080), probably because variations of this test will be used in several other form-factors, such as notebooks and all-in-one desktops. Watch the teaser video after the break.

Meh...

Also, who's exactly is going to produce a DX10 game for PC now? How many DX10 games (that don't also support DX11) are out there to begin with? I just don't get FutMark's decision on this one.

Maybe it's to help bring DX10 as standard and wipe out DX9? Maybe.

DX11 should be standard, not DX10...

Should be but that kind of tech isn't always affordable to alot of the general public.

...We'll get there.

Well Crysis 3 does require a DX11 GPU only

Lower end cards are DX11 as well, so I think it's affordable.

Even then. A $100 for a low end card is a lot for some people. I have a friend who is on some 8800gt's in sli and has not upgraded because he has enough performance... and lacks the $100.

wii-u = directx 10.1, the next xbox and playstation aren't going to be out until late 2013 at the earliest, mid 2014 at the latest, more than enough time to launch a new benchmark for their release.

Most of the games people play now on the pc are console ports so it does make sense to include directx10. Just like it made sense for 3dmark06 to have directx9 sm2.0 tests as well as sm3.0 tests with hdr.

gotta cover the bases. besides its not like they're leaveing directx 11 out
