NEC Intros the MultiSync EA244WMI 24-Inch IPS Monitor

NEC Display Solutions of America, a leading provider of commercial LCD display and projector solutions, announced today an addition to its high-end IT desktop line, the MultiSync EA Series, with the 24-inch EA244WMi. This performance-driven monitor is LED-backlit and ideal for corporate environments.

Designed to enhance work performance, this widescreen model features IPS panel technology with wide viewing angles (178° horizontal/vertical) and ergonomic adjustability. The LED backlighting of the EA244WMi allows for a slimmer profile, lighter weight and increased power savings compared to previous generation models. ControlSync technology allows users to control up to six EA244WMi displays in a multi-monitor configuration. Upon establishing one unit as the master, users are able to control many performance attributes of the multi-monitor setup in unison through the single monitor.

Smart sensing technology automatically detects your work conditions to determine the proper display brightness with ambient light and human sensors, while a comprehensive input panel, including HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI-D, VGA and 4-port USB hub, connects users to the latest peripherals and future-proofs the investment.

"The MultiSync EA Series has transitioned to LED backlighting, offering our enterprise customers industry-leading low power consumption and less hazardous materials, not to mention a more aesthetically pleasing product," said Lynn Gu, Product Manager at NEC Display Solutions. "With top environmental compliance and technologies, the EA244WMi is a perfect complement to the line."

The MultiSync EA244WMI includes the following features:
● 24-inch, 16:10 IPS panel with LED backlighting
● Wide viewing angles of 178°H/178°V
● 1920 x 1200 full HD resolution
● 25,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio (1000:1 typical)
● Ergonomic adjustable stand with 130 mm height-adjust, tilt, swivel and pivot
● DisplayPort, HDMI, DVI-D and VGA D-sub inputs
● Integrated 4-port USB 2.0 hub (two rear, two side)
● Integrated speakers (1 W x 2) and headphone jack
● ControlSync for multi-screen setups
● Smart sensing technology (ambient light and human sensors)
● ECO Mode, carbon footprint meter and cost meter
● ENERGY STAR 6.0 and TCO 6.0 compliant
● EPEAT Gold

The MultiSync EA244WMI ships with a 3-year limited parts and labor warranty and will be available in January 2013 at an estimated street price of $379.

Nice. Can't wait to read some reviews to see how it stacks up against the Asus PA248Q (very similar specs, price).

Posting the earlier PR because it has some specs not listed above.
In addition to the LaVie Z, NEC also announced its MultiSync EA244WMi line of 24-inch desktop monitors. Available in black (EA244WMi-BK) and white (EA244WMi), the monitors feature WUXGA (1920 x 1200 pixels) resolution, 6 ms response time, 350 cd/m² brightness, 25,000:1 contrast-ratio with dynamic mega-contrast, and 178°/178° (H/V) viewing angles. The LED-backlit IPS LCD monitors feature a nominal power draw of 41W, which goes down to 21W and 16W with EcoMode settings. Its stands feature a 90° pivot, 60° tilt, and 130 mm height-adjustment range. Display inputs include DisplayPort, DVI-D, HDMI, and D-Sub. 2W stereo speakers come built-in. The two are slated for market availability in mid-January, 2013.

Prima.VeraW-LED or RGB-LED ??
most likely W-LED, RGB-LED is being scraped lately, or it can be the new GB-r LED

Standard gamut would indicate W-LED. RGB-LED in the sense of LED triads (separate LEDs for each color subpixel) is rare and much more expensive. RGB-LED in the sense of tri-diodes (all three color emitters in a single diode package, stacked) is what I call W-LED. The only other way to get a white LED is to use a blue LED and a yellow filter coating on the casing. This would be a disaster regarding color gamut, though. The distinction that you're probably asking about is whether this is an Edge-LED (LEDs along the edge of the diffuser, shining parallel to the screen) implementation, or if it's a 2D plane array of LEDs behind the diffuser (shining perpendicular to the screen). The monitor seems too "fat" for Edge-LED.

Honestly, I would like to see 2560 x 1600 to work its way into 24-28 inch displays.

I'd be happy with 2560 x 1440...

i cant get the monitor market really. people have bitched endlessly about a lack of 1920x1200 monitors and quite some time after the ipad gets a high resolution screen we finally get one?

+1: It's not like they can't do it. Look at the iPad with retina display and the Nexus 10. 10-inches with 2560x1440 (I think iirc, maybe it was x1600...) so it's not like they can't do it. :wtf:

I love NEC monitors, if I didn't already have something close to that I'd defiantly be wanting it.

Not sure why they are bitching a new 1920x1200 gets announced every month. I think what they want is a 1920x1200 120hz S-IPS panel for < $150
