MSI, ASRock to Increase Focus on Chinese Market
One of the last few bastions where growth prospects of the PC industry are stable, China, will see motherboard makers ASRock and MSI eke it out, for market supremacy. According to industry observer DigiTimes, the two companies, which are the third and fourth biggest players in the motherboard industry, respectively, lagged behind industry leaders ASUS and Gigabyte, and as such hedging their bets on the Chinese market.
MSI held a marketing conference in Kunshan, in which is reportedly laid out a strategy to increase motherboard shipments this year from 5 million to 6-6.5 million this year. ASRock, on the other hand, held overclocking competitions in China, to spice up its credentials as a high-quality board maker, in an effort to raise its annual board shipments number to 9 million.
