Core i7-4770K Retail Package Pictured Up Close
It turns out that the 4th generation Core "Haswell" retail box-art that surfaced late last month wasn't fake. With Intel's next-gen chips less than a week away from launch, retailers are stocked up on them. One such retailer in Japan let a box face the lens. Pictured below is a retail box of the Core i7-4770K. The paperboard box, for the first time in several generations, features a collage of true-color images, with the running theme being "creativity." The box features a cutout at its usual location, letting you take a good look at what you're spending $330 on.

The 80's just called. They want their box art back.
Seriously, WTF Intel is doing?
Anyway... They could do a lot better than that
EDIT:
in case anybody else wants to know the other 4th gen cpu's en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haswell_(microarchitecture)
I guess they must have forgotten to hire a packaging/graphic designer when they hire their engineers.. looks like it was designed mostly using MS Paint.. lol :toast:
The box is nice, it's a box... What you want from it?
Sure, ultimately a product should be judged on its merits, not its packaging, and most people who will see the box, know what they want and why. But, I'm not sure if they just don't care, but for a company of this calibre, I would expect better. I'd expect the same quality, skill, effort to go into every aspect of their business.
But, imo most computer tech packaging/branding isn't great at all so perhaps they're just a victim of the market they're in. They have to fit in really, even if fitting in means badly matched images and over-cluttered packaging.
Sure it's ugly but who cares? It's a box that goes in another box that goes in a closet.
This is superficial BS people,....
I mean really,....
