Retail Core i7-4770K Cracks 7068.52 MHz with MSI Z87 XPower

The new Z87 XPOWER, the top of the line overclocking motherboard recently broke all previous overclocking records for the Intel Core i7-4770K by validating a smashing 7068.52 MHz clock speed. All previous records were set on Engineering samples unavailable to normal users and the Z87 XPOWER record was set on a Retail CPU available in stores right now. This latest score puts MSI firmly at the top of Z87 Overclocking leaderboards.

Not bad, i guess it a good sign of what is coming? I'd like to see all cores enabled & Dual CH RAM though...

Didn't the ES chips hit like a Ghz higher? Seems like those are the chips to have.

Then you may want to look at 3D benches or CPU benches where they push the CPUs to the most stable point on full cores.

This is just an exercise in frequency which doesn't really care if they ran half single channel or half thread :toast:

And as expected they had to use and suffocate @400MHz a single channel 2GB RAM stick. So it's either the CPU or the RAM but not both. Great job, Intel! What a f*cking engineering marvel this Haswell of yours...

The 10GHz promised years ago by Intel would be enough for me... talking about ambient cooling of course :toast:
