Considering how happy i am with Gigabyte HD7950 WindForce 3X i'm most likely going to buy the GTX 970 with WindForce 3X cooler. It's big but i don't mind that when you see how cooler the GPU is and thus you can tone down fan speed even further.

That'll help with the rigidity of the PCB and alleviate some sagging but I feel bad about the PCIe connector on long cards.

you are wrong to worry, my own card is also a very long monster from Gigabyte and I'm yet to find a reason to worry.

Same here, I have the 670 WF3 and no brace is needed.

Back plates are the "new thing." Some are plastic or metal and some actually reduce the temps.

So much metal to cool a 160W GPU. Give it to R9 290X instead.

yea was reading a site that got these cards already for review, not sure how 970 ran hotter then 980 but they ran 61c and 63c in their test using default clocks gigabyte used which was overclocked still in crysis 3.

No need really... the R9 290X and it's brother just got declared dead, so there's plenty metal for everybody :)

Actually the tech that manufacturers had to develop to cool down R2 290X is quite valuable...

The card looks actually cool... I hope Gigabyte won't screw on further revisions, they thend to change layout afterwards and lock down many features...

My five cents as 7970 user, as many of are... the new card performs very close to 7990 actually... yes CFX is a paint to maintain... but still i will skip this generation as such... 28nm is the only thing that should be dead. And I don't see any upcoming game that will justify buying this beast, no matter how good it is, mine ain't that bad either yet...

So over with the hype... :D

The real problem is this GPU card doesn't have enough fans. I want at least 5x 120mm fans and 10x would be better. One side should have red colored fan blades and the other side green colored fan blades. They also need LEDs to light the fan blades so I can see how cool they look when they spin. The other stuff is unimportant. ;)

multitechnoparkAlready tested

problem with making a video like that, least for me i like reading the article by the tester, get his thoughts any issues or things he noticed doing the testing can be heard. None of that can be seen in those kinda video's. I also didn't see any thing like power usage and temps.
