MSI Unveils GeForce GTX 970 Gold Limited Edition

At its BeatIT 2014 event, MSI unveiled its limited-edition GeForce GTX 970 Gold graphics card. The card looks essentially similar to the GTX 970 Gaming, with the exception of a pure copper-stack heatsink, instead of aluminium, exposed copper heat pipes, and a golden-orange tinted cooler shroud applique. The back-plate features a unique vent pattern, with a golden "dragon" logo. MSI didn't disclose clock speeds, but we expect the card's design-focus to be on overclocking headroom, rather than factory-OC. The other thing that remains to be disclosed is just how "limited" the card's production run is, and in which markets it will be available.

Can't imagine it will overclock that much more than the Gaming series cards. My 970 4G Gaming's both reach 1520MHz core fairly easily.

Im sure will be only for the Taiwan or Chinese market.

Like Zotac did with past cards.

OMG!!!!

An MSI (Nvidia) card with a, wait for it....backplate.

Not too difficult is it.

You lost a sale to Asus with me because of your pathetic penny pinching attitude and not putting one on your standard 970.

One would assume these are to go with the MPower boards a little better?

I wouldn't want that back plate as VRM area is not vented , unless they moved them to were 980 PCB is .

You'd have to send whole rig back after a month then. Be careful what you wish. No luck with MSI (most of the time). :D

Can't use their stuff in review rig because they want to shoot themselves on foot by taking them back. And for what? Don't want free PR? :(

Yes, sexy golden dragons. But only if they don't have to be shipped out after they land desk or I'll cry like baby while packing them. Give a kid candy and take it away

That is one fantastic looking card! And the attention to detail by putting a dragon on the backplate, the part everyone sees in your case is excellent!

I love the all copper cooler :D - I could care less about what color it is as long at it performs well, which the cooler no doubt will do. With it just being a standard 970 GAMING and the better cooler this should perform well (since the current 970 GAMINGs do well )

it's a limited edition. 2,000 qty only.

Pure copper thermal fin w/ pipes. Of course, its performance will be better. :)

When will these be available? I would very much like to get hold of two if possible?
Will there be a big premium over the regular version?
Any information on the clocks yet?

Just got hands on two of these dragons! They are heavy...
And they are flying just .100$ more than 980 and I got so much power out of it!

I tell you what.... It is useless to have these dragons in your mobo unless you have 4k.
I mean I like 140 frames no OC , all ultra settings 1920x1080 battlefield 4... It's just makes no difference to my eye to have one card or two...
Time to upgrade my lcd, will wait till sales shows up , you'r not getting 4k less than 500$, then I think I'll give it a real OC test!
