I wish it came with an M.2 slot like ASRock 990FX Fatal1ty Killer, though.

Ahh...I wish I actually needed an AMD mobo. MSI are making them look so good these days but the performance with the current gen processors just isn't there. Makes this AMD fan sad....

New board for dead socket with USB 3.1
Now I can say this and no one will try to argue that AM3+ hasn't been a dead socket for 3 years

Who knows, someone might comes across a good deal.

Years ago I was given a Pentium 4 D so I bought a board so that I could use it. Would have never done it otherwise, but with a free CPU the price was right. Kind of like investing in AM3+ at this point in time. Buying completely new probably isn't a good idea, but that's not always the situation. Leftover parts in our closets, eBay, For Sale forums, etc.

I know, that's why I say drop it. As soon as I was once prompted to open Internet Explorer and install plugins to get my NIC card working (Killer software shiat) I said NOPE! Intel NIC all the way...

VulkanBrosWhat about PCIExpress 3.0?? Or is that not possible on a 990FX chipset?
Yes, 990FX does not natively support PCIe 3.0. The only FX based board that supported PCIe 3.0 (that I'm aware of) was the ASUS Sabertooth 990FX Gen3. A board that I happen to have. Basically, it's a workaround, or hack if you will. However it was also a limited run board, no longer available.

At this point, for current GPU's, PCIe 3.0 is still not needed. If you want the support on the AMD side of the fence, then you either need to invest in a FM2+ based system (A88X) or wait for Zen.
