Kinc and Crotale Completely Decimate 3DMark06 World Record Live at Dreamhack 2007

Kinc and Crotale, two world-renowned overclockers, decided to put their names to the test recently. They took all their ultra-awesome overclocking equipment, set up camp at Dreamhack 2007, and promised a raging crowd of fans a world record. They lived up to both their names and promise by completely decimating the previous world record. Kinc and Crotale scored 29,325 points in 3DMark06 live at Dreamhack 2007 with the following system:
  • Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650 (431x13, 5522MHz)
  • ASUS P5E3 WS Pro (Intel X38)
  • ASUS Radeon HD 2900 XT CrossFire 1200/980MHz
  • Corsair Dominator DDR3-1800 @ 1698MHz 6-6-5-15
  • SilverStone 1200W
  • Liquid nitrogen for cooling both graphics cards and processor

TheGuruStudLOL, I just get fed up with this 3DMark crap. I think it's incredible that they can O/C this stuff this well, and I have respect. But, when everyone does this "Look! I beat the 3Dmark record again wooooo!", it just kind of irks me. Now, when you start doing real benchies (like eidairaman1 said) and/or breaking those records, then, I'll have some kudos to hand out.
I just don't get this whole synthetic benchmark jerk-off-a-thon. It means relatively little.....it's SYNTHETIC!

edit: BTW, I love your name, Spankenstein haha
Yes, I am impressed with some benchmarks. People who hard/softmod to get there. But once it is not a real usable system (et liquid nitrogen) I don't really care. Still those people are likely driving some of the changes in technology, so it may be a good thing.

I wonder how many of these geeks get paid to use certain components when going for a record.

My only 'props' to them, is having the balls to pull all their junk apart and take it on the road to a convention.

Record or no record, screw that!

@Jpierce

Aye, I agree. I don't think any of these 'records' is relevant in the scheme of things, or to the future of components. Developers and manufacturers will build the best they can, whenever they can and then play the market to make the most money. What a bunch of enthusiasts do with their hardware in this context is meaningless.
