Gigabyte GeForce GTS 250 w/ Zalman Cooling Spotted

As NVIDIA gears up to give GeForce GTS 250 a gala CeBIT launch, its partners seem to be ready with their products, and press-shots. Gigabyte will be one of the first to be out with a GeForce GTS 250 based graphics accelerator that uses the company's own design, GV-N250ZL-1GI. For those new, the GeForce GTS 250 is simply a re-launch of the NVIDIA's 9800 GTX+ accelerator. It is based on the same G92b core and uses identical specifications.

Gigabyte's first accelerator sports the Ultra Durable PCB construction. The PCB consists of 2 oz (56.6 g) copper layers that help spread heat and minimize ground electrical noise. It also consists of the all solid-capacitor, ferrite choke, low effective RDS on MOSFETs design. The most interesting feature of this card is its cooler: a Zalman VF1050. Heat is drawn from the GPU-contact block using four heatpipes that convey it to a dense array of copper fins, nucleated by a PWM-controlled fan. The clock speeds on this card remain close to the reference speeds: 740/1850/2000 MHz (core/shader/memory). It might hit the stores after NVIDIA makes the GPU official.

PWM controlled fan? I only see a 2 pins.
I hope these things come in 512MB.

There is no surprise that the VF1000 - GV1000 on my HD3850 looked as refrigerator :laugh:

As the same cooler with minor modifications and equal name, can handle one GTS 250 . ;)

Why wait for the GTS 250 when you can go pick up a 9800GTX+ today for dirt cheap?

I just installed an Asus EN9800GTX+ Dark Knight that effortlessly overclocks to 800+/2000/2200, has a 4 heat pipe cooler and a fan, with the help of RivaTuner, that can be dropped down to an almost silent level.

It was very nice to finally buy a GPU that didn't have a completely inadequate cooling solution on it and didn't need to be replaced day 1. If you game at 1680x1050 or lower, in most games you won't notice much if any difference between this and a more expensive 260. Your ears will thank you.

I would buy it just for the box... Hah! Robot = Excellent.

No, but seriously, I've had good experiences with Gigabyte UD products, and I expect this to be no different. The rebadge isn't their fault, so I'm not going to hold it against them...

That is actually very cool indeed, nice to see a better power/size ratio, at least from the pictures that cards' size would be much easier on some smaller builds, yet it shouldn't be a slouch either and with decent cooling should have some oc-ability to it!

Though I gotta say I'm gonna keep my 260, I might upgrade the G/F's rig to this from her 9600GT if the price is right. Not in a hurry atm as that 9600 is heavily OC'd, AC S1 + fan cooled, and is a champ of a little card...but this looks very tempting to say the least!

Sweet. I just sold my 9800GTX+ so I'll definitely be picking up one of these. Actually I sold my 8800GT to buy a 9800GT. then sold that to buy a 9800GTX but then Nvidia released the 9800GTX+ so I sold my 9800GTX to buy that. Whew!

God I'm stupid.

Summed up:

8800GT -> 9800GT -> 9800GTX -> 9800GTX+ -> GTS250

Nice!

That was just a little joke because of Nvidia's latest rebadging spree.
