Zalman Launches ZM500-RS Power Supply

Korean PC cooling specialist Zalman launched the ZM500-RS 500 W mainstream PSU. The PSU provides connectors most common to PSUs in its range, offering support for basic SLI or CrossFire setups, or powerful single graphics cards. Under its hood is the Resonant Switching Circuit Design (RSCD), which Zalman claims to be more efficient than dual-forward switching designs, in minimizing energy loss and heat output.

The PSU uses two 18 A +12V rails and Active PFC support. It has a rated efficiency of 87% and qualifies for the 80 Plus rating. On the connections front, apart from the 24-pin ATX and 8-pin CPU connectors, it provides four SATA, four Molex, one floppy, one PCI-Express 6+2 pin, and one PCI-Express 6-pin connectors. The unit is cooled by a silent 120 mm fan. Following the launch, the PSU should reach markets shortly.

Looks to be a solid performer. Their 800W and 1000W PSUs have gotten great reviews.

36 amps seems a lil low, but then should only be running one card anyways on her. $65 would be tasty price for this and it'd help it sell. Most of newegg's 500watt PSU's are priced $70+, and antec is a solid manufacturer.

actually they have excellent cooling on the psu's. They combine heat pipes and solid fans so I think this is a winner.
