TUL creates a new ATI graphics card brand: VTX

TUL Corporation who are best known for their VGA card brand Powercolor, have started a new company called "VTX". Like Powercolor it will sell ATI based graphics cards, but initially focuses on markets like Russia and Turkey. The cards will be priced extremely competitive and based on custom PCB designs which will help reduce the cost.

Pardon my ignorance: how does a custom PCB help reducing costs?

If GPU companies can start creating extra brands (just imagine the cost of brand building from scratch, and needing to create new production lines, and new marketing and distribution channels) then it just goes to show there are some seriously fat margins in this business.

I hope they open in the Middle East (Arabian Gulf Countries) because the prices here are a total rip off...the price of a 8800GTX is 2500Dhs ($700).

Same thing here in KSA. Although I think that that 8800GTX is from the first release thats why it costs $700 (500-600 plus taxes), the store probably didnt want to cut the price and lose on the item. (But then no one would buy it 'cause it costs too much especially now) yeah well thats the logic I've been seeing here.

Much better you look for a better store where the inventory is moved quickly, another city perhaps, to get good prices.

I bought my card in khobar a good 2 hour plus drive from where i am now ;)
