The AMD E1-2500 was a mobile processor with 2 cores, launched in May 2013. It is part of the E1 lineup, using the Kabini architecture with Socket FT3. E1-2500 has 1 MB of L2 cache and operates at 1400 MHz. AMD is making the E1-2500 on a 28 nm production node, the transistor count is unknown. The silicon die of the chip is not fabricated at AMD, but at the foundry of GlobalFoundries. The multiplier is locked on E1-2500, which limits its overclocking potential.
With a TDP of 15 W, the E1-2500 consumes very little energy. AMD's processor supports DDR3 memory with a single-channel interface. The highest officially supported memory speed is 1333 MT/s, but with overclocking (and the right memory modules) you can go even higher. ECC memory is supported, too, which is an important capability for mission-critical systems, to avoid data corruption. For communication with other components in the system, E1-2500 uses a PCI-Express Gen 2 connection. This processor features the Radeon HD 8240 integrated graphics solution.
Hardware virtualization is available on the E1-2500, which greatly improves virtual machine performance. Programs using Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX) can run on this processor, boosting performance for calculation-heavy applications.
