    Your PC ATM

A couple weeks ago I got a 4000D airflow off amazon for about € 80 (prime day sale). Time to retire the old Xaser III. It's a beatiful case, extremely simple but well built. The sheet metal feels a bit thin but honestly at that price some compromises need to be done. I've moved both the provided...

5800x (and other Zen 3 chips) PBO settings/Temperature fix

What temps do you get under cinebench 10 min crunch? I've tried your same settings (143W / 95A / 120A) on my 5800X, and so far it's been one of the best results I managed to get. Thanks for the data in the reply! Running the same setup, with CO -29/-29/-29/-14/-18/-29/-29/-4, +150MHz boost...

5800x (and other Zen 3 chips) PBO settings/Temperature fix

I would call a 16.3 - 15.5k drop insignificant, as it's 5% and I'll never notice it anywhere. After further optimizations (ram overclocked to 3.8GHz, undervolt tuned down to 62.5mV) I've managed to hit about 15500 at 110W. That's a whopping 140 points per watt, way higher than the "fully...

Printer recommendation for 300-600 sheet prints per day

300-600 pages a day are 9-18K per month, and roughly 108-216K per year. Have you looked into renting something? As I believe it's mostly black and white, buying a consumer printer to process that kind of volume means running it into the ground in a couple years if everything goes well. For a...

Share your AIDA 64 cache and memory benchmark here

This is my current result. Crucial Ballistix 3200Mhz CL16 2x16Gb running "safe" settings at 3800MHz. Edit: I had the wrong settings, see uclk in the pic above at 950MHz. Forced it 1:1 at 1900MHz and values are a lot better.

What are your opinions on PSUs with zero-rpm fan features?

I like power supplies with low power fanless options, when they are built correctly. The one I'm running now has this feature (Seasonic Platinum 660w) and I'm happily using it. With high efficiency designs (platinum and above) like this, even at low power loads (20%, 130W) you'll get 92%...

5800x (and other Zen 3 chips) PBO settings/Temperature fix

Following on this thread, I've experimented a little bit more with my 5800x. Reduced the total power allowed to 100W, TDC 75A and EDC 90A. Max Boost +100MHz, offset voltage -0.0625V. Coming from 110W/80A/100A, I've seen almost no drop in cinebench - 15248 vs 15300ish, while temps fell a solid...

Are we witnessing the slow demise of the air cooler?

Things are changing, around here there's still many houses that got wired in the early eighties and are not up to code today. In new or renovated buildings you'll see almost only the bivalent (10/16A) plug allowing either 16A plugs or the common "low power" ones for appliances - CEE 7/16...

Are we witnessing the slow demise of the air cooler?

I believe you guys are making a good mix of European and USA power systems. Here in Italy (and EU) most "main power" circuits are 230v / 16A, while lights are on 10A or lower circuits. Outlets, both IEC and schuko can hold up to 16A at 230v, so theorically up to 3.6kW. From what @cvaldes...

Are we witnessing the slow demise of the air cooler?

I believe air coolers are nowhere near their end - even in "enthusiast" markets. There are relevant coolers in the 30-40$ range with performance fair enough to run most cpus. Also, let's not forget the simplicity and reliability of air. No water flowing, no additives in the fluid to avoid...

How much are you willing to pay for a motherboard?

I am weary of cheap stuff. For my main current rig I went for a sub-200€ MB (Msi x570s torpedo max). Voted 150-250 as it's the branch that holds most good boards with decent features without sacrificing build quality too much.

What display resolution are you using?

    2560x1440 on a 32" philips 75hz VA (325E1C) as main. Secondary 24" 1920x1080 vertical.

5800x (and other Zen 3 chips) PBO settings/Temperature fix

I've got a 5800x, played around a bit with it. First went to full OC, then tried to get it into a more "reasonable" power setting. So far I've settled on a good setup, giving me still above 15K R23 scores and keeping the cpu at around 70-71°C. PPT 110W TDC 80A EDC 100A +200MHz PBO All Core...
