Arctic MX-6 shelf life is just a couple months?

Personally I had bad results with GD900, can see separation I hope in the pic posted before, bad paste from Gelid while 2 or 3 tubes before were good so I get why people are put off with a bad result. Similarly with Kingston micro SD cards, they are good cards but when I got scammed with fake...

Intel Statement on Stability Issues: "Motherboard Makers to Blame"

Try to see the bigger picture. What isn't rational thinking is saying Intel allowed changing Tjmax to 115C because they didn't want anyone using more than 100C! Many Intel CPU's do not allow changing Tjmax (which is really Tjtarget), if anything only an offset to allow throttling at a lower...

Intel Statement on Stability Issues: "Motherboard Makers to Blame"

Well really I would put that one on Intel for allowing it. Started doing that on some chips from 4th/5th gen IIRC

Intel Statement on Stability Issues: "Motherboard Makers to Blame"

Also embedded in a CPU register for those dissing 125W. If not able to read it can use something like CPUZ https://valid.x86.fr/cache/screenshot/c6mjl1.png And IIRC (maybe not) since SandyBridge some processors allowed essentially unlimited power (TDP) settings and many used that without...

Arctic MX-6 shelf life is just a couple months?

Here's mine I forget how many years ago it was like that. Was said to be manufactured almost 5 years ago and shelf life is stated as 2 years.

    Inconsistent cpu-z frequncies

I might guess your using spread spectrum. Intel default is usually 0.5% down spread so with 100MHz BCLK that would have the clock changing from 99.5MHz to 100MHz and back again linearly. This is done to reduce EMI as having the clock in one place will produce a higher signal of interference than...

Anyone know if Rufus gets around the SSE4.2 issue with Windows 11 24H2?

Depending on why you want W11 what about QEMU? I remember about 5 years ago Fedora Linux were contemplating AVX2 as a requirement but got shot down by many users. Different code paths can be written for those that have certain features and those that do not with usually a small overhead.

    Does charging protection matter?

Down to personal preference IMO. Manufacturers usually interested in maximum up time hours on battery for the public so likely going to use 100% charge. My own personal preference is to charge 100%, preferably fast charge (don't like waiting). I don't like to discharge below 10% as low voltage...

NVIDIA BIOS Signature Lock Broken, vBIOS Modding and Crossflash Enabled by Groundbreaking New Tools

From about 7 years ago https://www.overclock.net/threads/pascal-bios-editor-any-news.1621789/post-26139322 From even longer ago IIRC Stopped about 5 years ago but still on Github if you want to fork. IIRC there's support for some Turing and a few desktop cards too but only seems functional...

TechPowerUp Hiring: Reviewers Wanted for Motherboards, Laptops, Gaming Handhelds and Prebuilt Desktops

My favorite part of the reviews is the close up pics. An old saying IIRC "a picture can be worth a thousand words". Videos are moving pictures ;) https://www.facebook.com/reel/370294101706220 Now there's a thought, video review for those who don't like to read with optional link with written...

GPU-Z reporting wrong ReBar info for RTX 20 series

@izy See https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/incorrect-indication-about-rebar-in-newest-version-of-gpu-z.321241/ It's a bit of a mess IMO and people making their own interpretation of what constitutes resizable BAR. I think GPUZ says disabled if BAR1 address size is less than 1GiB and...

Any software that can read nvidia core voltage, Pascal and onwards?

@Waldorf For monitoring. There's a bug I'm looking into that removes limits, see https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/throttling-gtx-1660-super-oc-uv.320586/post-5223303 As @ThrashZone said an increase in power output can be a telltale for higher voltage and while I see this, the core...

Any software that can read nvidia core voltage, Pascal and onwards?

Finally managed to develop some comm's software for 1660 and now can read VOUT, seems more likely reporting VOUT than VSense, will have to confirm. Still this is nice, I now need to look for a second hand 30/40 card with similar comm's. Did see a 3060m going relatively cheap but a little...
