Palit Computex 2024: Neptunus, Beyond Limits, Master, LYNK Project, SFF-Ready

I think the answer is because they can't compete with the Nvidia FE price points, so they need to offer something different because they're forced to charge a higher price. I actually kinda like the look of these...but this is way too late in the product lifecycle to be releasing a new 40-series...

XPG to Launch Handheld Gaming Device with LPCAMM2 Support

LPCAMM2 support is great for handhelds, now people can stop going to ridiculous lengths to upgrade their 16GB handhelds, only to find there's not much difference anyway :D That colour scheme is certainly...a choice yes! This has reminded me though, I need to RMA my dead XPG SSD!

NVIDIA Unveils New SFF-friendly Enthusiast GeForce RTX Graphics Card Standard

I'll take the bait on this one, I'm in the camp of just wanting better performance & not really caring that bigger GPUs suck more power. It's a never ending game, you could say what if GPUs could do 4k 240Hz in the very latest AAA titles on max settings, would you still want more? No I wouldn't...

Acer Unveils Next-Level OLED Gaming Monitors

Oh I need to check up on that then! I've currently got a 42C2 as my main monitor & the subpixel layout means it is truly awful for productivity use, so any old subpixel WOLEDs are dead to me! I had assumed anything with the 1080p 480Hz mode would be a new subpixel layout, this is what I get for...

Acer Unveils Next-Level OLED Gaming Monitors

Yep that's totally fair! I'm at the point in my life that a monitor breaking would be slightly annoying but I'd just use one of my other ones &/or buy a new one if it breaks. So I'm much quicker to jump into a purchase these days. I'm not sure about these Acer monitors but I think most of the...

Acer Unveils Next-Level OLED Gaming Monitors

But why do I need to trust Samsung if I'm looking at trusted reviewers' assessments of the products & I have a warranty to fall back on if anything goes really wrong? I'm more thinking of TVs here where every retailer gives you 5 or even 6 year warranties, but monitors are different, you need to...

Acer Unveils Next-Level OLED Gaming Monitors

That sounds like a sad way to live tbh. I totally agree that you shouldn't trust anyone blindly, but trust is earned, & there's a few outfits in the tech sphere that have earned my trust. But a key point for me is there's always consumer protection so if I buy something based on reviews & I...

Acer Unveils Next-Level OLED Gaming Monitors

I trust Hardware Unboxed to give me the truth as much as I trust Wizzard. I don't know how to put that any stronger tbh!

Acer Unveils Next-Level OLED Gaming Monitors

Both the latest gen OLEDs (QD-OLED & WOLED) have new subpixel layouts which pretty much solve the text clarity problem, at least that's what Tim from Hardware Unboxed tells me, & I believe him. I think you've got things flipped. Whilst it's splitting hairs a bit, reviewers seem to agree that...

Microsoft Makes DirectSR API Available to Developers as a Preview

Ah excellent, that's very sensible and kind of an obvious way to go about it actually...tyvm for the info!

Microsoft Makes DirectSR API Available to Developers as a Preview

It's not a standard algorithm though, it's just a way to automatically choose one of the existing ones, with a fallback to FSR 2.2 by the sounds of it. My concern is how it determines what the "best available technology available with the graphics drivers that are supported by the game" is. Does...

BoostR is an eGPU and Multi-port I/O Dock Undercutting the Ayaneo OneXGPU

Strong disagree, just look at all the full size eGPU enclosures. The primary use case is having a device you can dock up to it when at home working on your desk, then unplugging & taking your device around the house or to friend's houses or on trips etc. Yes you can do that with a desktop PC at...

MSI GeForce RTX 4090 SUPRIM FUZION Graphics Card Pictured

For real though, what is the point in releasing something like this so very late in the product lifecycle? Surely everyone who's going to has already bought a 4090?

What the hell am I reading, this sounds ridiculous...ok I'll try it :D

ADT-Link Launches USB4 to PCIe 4.0 Bridge Board

Agreed, though you can pick up TB3 eGPU enclosures secondhand for not much more than just this board so I'm not sure how much it'll actually help lower the price entry point :(
