Where have all the 8K monitors gone in the UK?

The power they consume is minuscule for them to have any effect though, even when lots of them are used.

Where have all the 8K monitors gone in the UK?

@neatfeatguy great find there. This is a much plausible reason than all the others bandied about here. I knew it just wasn't right that they'd disappeared as the fancy new thing always becomes progressively more popular, cheaper and better over time, not disappear. Stupid rules supposedly...

    Black Holes

Ok, fair point. I've seen explanations that there is, or could be, an inner horizon too and I have no idea how that works. I think its existence or otherwise may be related to spin and / or size, can't remember now.

    Black Holes

It's not a proposal, it happens. General Relativity shows that time does stop at the horizon compared to a far away observer. Hence, an object falling in get extreme red shifted and fades from view. We never see it cross the horizon. The speed of light is the maximum speed of causality.

    Black Holes

When I read explanations of black holes in science articles, they often explain that time and space change place inside them, ie time becomes space and space becomes time since gravity is now stronger than the escape velocity of light. I don't understand that, do you? I'll bet not many people...

    Black Holes

That's where general relativity breaks down. Some scientists think the singularity is some kind of seething energy of finite size, not an infinitely small point, which seems a lot more sensible to me. Unfortunately, there's no way for us to look beyond the event horizon to study it. Perhaps one...

    Dark theme for forum page

A dark theme for TPU has been discussed extensively and there's lots of demand for one, but unfortunately one isn't coming in the foreseeable future. Browser add-ons are your only choice I'm afraid.

    Black Holes

@Ahhzz well, scientists know it's about 13.8b years old, so I'll go by that. Of course, there are still a lot of mysteries, including exactly how the Big Bang happened and precisely when. That's such a tough question that I'm not too sure man will ever know, unfortunately. You're missing the...

    Black Holes

@InVasMani seriously no, that's not how black holes work at all. Their gravity is so strong that they bend spacetime to such an extreme degree that at the event horizon, the escape velocity exceeds that of light. Once inside the event horizon, nothing can escape it, absolutely nothing. Below the...

Which is the best-sounding Realtek driver so far?

Look, once again, I simply said to the other user that to disbelieve the Nyquist theory is to lose all credibility. This cannot be argued with, yet you're trying to counter my point with post after post of irrelevant stuff about it and splitting hairs between theory and law, also irrelevant. If...

CORSAIR Launches New 48GB, 96GB and 192GB Memory Kits

First time I've seen RAM whose capacity isn't a power of 2. I'd rather see it maxed out than this.

JayZee and GN if I remember correctly, been a while. As I said, it's established, so no need to argue.

No, design fault. It's been shown to be by professional reviewers, so isn't a matter for debate.

Glad that wasn't just my impression, please see my response in post 59.
