ASUS has developed its own take on AMD's mid-range Radeon HD 5750 graphics accelerator, with the EAH5750 Formula 1 GB. Being a non-reference design product, it makes use of both cooler and PCB indigenously developed by the company. The black PCB seems slightly shorter than the reference PCB, and has its power connector located on the top, rather than on the end. The Radeon HD 5750 GPU features DirectX 11 compliance, 720 stream processors, and a 128-bit GDDR5 memory interface to connect to the 1 GB of memory on this card. It sticks to AMD's reference clock speeds of 700/1050 MHz (core/memory).

The other, more important selling point of this card is its custom designed GPU cooler. Apparently the design involves a GPU contact block from which metal fins project radially, on which a PWM-controlled fan circulates air. Characteristic to ASUS' Formula series graphics cards, the cooler shroud coarsely resembles a Formula One racing car. The connectors are all rounded off onto one metal bracket, although the card still needs two expansion slots. Connectors include one each of DVI-D, D-Sub, and HDMI. The price is expected to be under € 120.

I can't help but to shake my head in disappointment whenever I see one of these cards. The heatsink looks like some little kid's cheap plastic toy. Whoever approved this design needs to get out more. What technologically savvy person is going to want this in their custom built computer?

So this doesn't have the Voltage Tweak feature?
EAH5770 BIOS should fix that :D
And as for the "wrace cawr" the Formula design proved to be better that both 4770 and 5750 cooler(and might beat even the stock 4850)

One reason I would never ever buy ATI again . yeah there cards are fast and sweet but when it come to performance holding and heat dissipation ATI falls short and I just hate that . I would like to get the new ATI DX11 card but from my years of experience with them I will have to pass .

Damn MAn this is gonna be a bit dissapointing having 128bit gddr5 than 256bit gddr5, I mean its a good range performance card, its not a 5460 or sumthing to have 128 bit

Then your years of experience do fail you this time.
The HD5K series stays rather cool under load. The 5770 reference design loads @mid-70s.

Are you unhappy today or something? It seems as if you are spewing anti-ATI/AMD crap all over TPU today. This is like the 4th thread where i've seen you gripe about "AMD's shitty performance" or "My ATI card overheats". If anyone else thought AMD/ATI were so shitty, nobody would be using AMD/ATI components, would they? I own a Radeon HD 3850 AGP with a dinky aluminum cooler and it doesn't overheat. My AMD Phenom II X4 955BE works great and even undervolts nicely (currently at 2.8GHz/1.1375v, vs 3.2GHz/1.325v stock). I don't know what your problem is, but everybody else seems content with their AMD/ATI products.

Before complaining more, do yourself a favour and read the reviews on the current cards before writing them off. From this end it looks like you've been out of the loop, coz your complaints don't apply to current generation AMD/ATi product.
Oh BTW, the cooler design here is ASUS's not ATi's so there's no reason to hate on ATi for it.:)

I just got rid of a 4870 1GB card because it was way to hot and unstable .
I only have one thing that I hate about ATI cards and well one thing I have not seen on my GTX260 is temps at 70*c ! NEVER ! ATI has gained great ground but when I got that HD4870 1 GB card and could not even play wow as well as a FX card some thing tells me turn and run !
I just hope when I finally make another choice to go with ATI ( soon ) that I will get a card that will be cool and powerful . As the HD4870 couldn't even come close to the card I have in terms of performance and heat .

LOL it's not a graphic card it's some poor men shiny bling. It's designed for some kid pulling money out of his parents pocket when it saw that plastic racing statue on some crappy pcb under shine of reflector bulbs on some glass shelf in local store

So this doesn't have the Voltage Tweak feature?

Nope for voltage tweaks you need an adequate pcb and this is only for kids that dont even bother to read some review after they saw it under zillion lights on the store shelf. IMO its awful thing on what way big manufacturers of graphic cards and mobos try to sell us non-fully functional things just to be unhappy when we figure it out so we'd need to buy another one next year. This is fraudulent but ... nobody seems to care.

Then you're looking for the 5850. Just check W1zz's reviews on it, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. ;)

Agree with you that ATi references cheaper pcb cards with some poor cooling solutions, but cmon HD4870 have decent cooling even on reference cards. Poor cooling had some later released HD3870 blue sapphire cards when they put more plastic and 3x less copper on Al cooler base (copper on gpu) than on older 1950Pro which was 80W card vs RV670 which was 95W card and capable of lot havier load under OpenGL or Streaming than 1950Pro. HD3870 original had good but noisy cooling and ntm how good were 3x 8cm HP coolers on 2900Xt
Then there was hd3850/hd4850 reference cards that on 90W-110W respectivly had poor single slot coolers on much smaller dies than 1950Pro (RV570) again and have problems dissipating it. Some of cards even change pcb structure around GPU if OCed w/ VoltMods. Probably poor cooler-die contact

But on the other hand GTX260-216 is nowhere near better card than HD4870 when it comes to cooling. Maybe with some customized cooler release from xfx/zotac but then there's Sapphire Toxic which mostly resembles old 7950GTX coolers and is more efficient toxic mesh+more HPs

Practically both Formula-series ATI cards are capable of running 1GHz on the core. The cooler on this thing is superior to that of the stock HD 4770 and HD 5750 HSF. It even has PWM (yellow, red, black) wires for fan control and monitoring (stock HD 5750 doesn't even have that).

And yes, that is the default size for all reference HD 5750 PCBs. And since it's part of the Formula series, it may have it's own unique voltage controller that can be used with the ASUS Voltage Tweak tool.

Half the people here were concentrated on the aesthetic shroud when this is possibly a superior card build.

this Asus Formula card dont even support even HD5000 series triple monitor support errrm Eyefinity

it does have three monitor outputs, even if one is the antique VGA

eyefinity editions are the ones with 6 outputs, and they're a special edition of the 5k series cards

What are you talking about? How are you getting this 5750 has an inferior PCB from this article? From when it said it was a tad shorter than the stock 5750? What are you taking about :D I'm just found myself misleaded :D by other such products line from Gigabyte, Asus and lately Sapphire has joined club. Every new revision long before market price cuts gets cheaper parts on pcb and this is just by looking on card rear exhaust looks like fraudulent big brand strike again ... this Asus Formula card dont even support even HD5000 series triple monitor support errrm Eyefinity and that's enough for me to call it a c-r-a^p. If you wanna proof me wrong you should buy it and show us a review, i wish i'm wrong for sake of my pocket too ;)... i'd bet it had nothing superior over poor budget HD5750 just a big brand shiny statue on top of it. And i don't even know how you could comparing this budget card with something self explanatory as
ASUS Radeon HD5770 1GB Voltage Tweak Edition

I don't really see what exactly you're getting at (other than the gimmicky cooler, yes its a gimmick but it looks like an improvement over the stock 5750 'egg' cooler)

eyefinity editions are the ones with 6 outputs, and they're a special edition of the 5k series cards

You meant on ATi HD5800 SEX (i meant SIX edition :D) series and higher cards. This was review concept and still no on market afaik. maybe when G300 will se a sunny day they release it as quick rainbow fighter ;)

Eyefinity is something ATi will afford for all cards starting with HD5000 series except IGP, well at least the claimed that on launch (and every card in HD5000 series had triple-display output ... and with dvi-dl->2xdp splitters will be capable do that six output solution supported in drivers)

Well first hand experience is the most real experience there is and if you say you've personally seen some sort of nose dive in the quality of PCBs from ATI vendors then I'll take your word for it (I haven't had an ATI card since the 7000 series, then I jumped back when the 4000 series came out and now I have a 5850). As for comparing it to the 5770 voltage tweak, I was just curious as to whether the 5750 had the voltage tweak feature or not since they're from the same vendor, hell I'm still not even sure if their existing ASUS EAH5750 5750 variant has it or not (I'm leaning towards no).

And cooling, thats the main thing, since thats practically thats all these 5750 variants have to differentiate themselves from each other (the only other 5000 series with a custom HSF is the Sapphire Radeon HD 5870 Vapor-X). So far the only noticeably 'outstanding' HSFs for the 5750 seem to be the 5750 Vapor-X (obviously), the Powercolor PCS AX5750 (with the big Zerotherm copper heatsink) and the Sapphire stock 5750 that uses a variant of their 4800 series cooler (which seems to have been improved slightly and performs marginally better than 'the egg')

I wouldn't worry too much about triple monitor support for this card (which it has since it has 3 ports), because generally if all one can only afford is this card, chances are they're not going to afford 3 monitors.:)
