ASUS today released the Republic of Gamers (ROG) Spatha X gaming mouse. A successor to the original ROG Spatha from 2016, the Spatha X is a wireless mouse optimized for MMO gaming, with its 12 strategically positioned programmable buttons. Connectivity includes 2.4 GHz wireless, and USB 2.0 wired connections. The design of the Spatha X appears unchanged from the original. What's new is the updated 19,000 dpi sensor (compared to 8,200 dpi on the original), and updated ROG Micro switches that are rated for up to 70 million clicks (compared to 20 million clicks on the original). You get a magnetic charging dock that lets the mouse recharge when not in use. On a full charge, you can get up to 67 hours of gameplay off the mouse, with the RGB off. When it releases around June 24, the ROG Spatha is expected to be priced around $150.

R&D/engineering team say:

"Hey boss, let's design a brand new rodent with all kinds of new, killer features/buttons etc"

Marketing Team say:

"Nope, that will cost too much & take too long, so lets just take an old model, add a few minor changes, and call it a brand new xxx model, and sell it for 2x the price :)"

Benchmark Scores bench...mark? i do leave mark on bench sometime, to remember which one is the most comfortable. :o
i will have my original Spatha running strong, heavy and sturdy, read literally indestructible, as i like my E-rodent (or with static and trackball'y added to it like my MX ergo ) got it for half her "Swiss price" aka 149chf, so 150$ for the new one is not that expensive, 75chf was a steal compared to other similarly priced product (out of discount ) from various concurrents

from what i read, only the switches and sensor differ, since the original already had the magnetic dock, Switches can be found and used on the original (i still have 2 spare that came originally still wrapped) and 19k dpi is not what i seek, even with 8.2k i was always using it at 2.5/3.5k on a 3k screen (2880x1620p)

The curious part is the specific choice of sensor, the original Spatha had Pixart ADNS 9800 which is not... great. Good for a laser, meh in general and comes with built-in acceleration that is not constant. Which is why it has a pretty bad rep for anything related to FPS gaming.
So a new sensor that is perhaps better would be interesting.

well given that i rarely play FPS lately that might be related ... (although i had zero issues in FPS i played back with it ...well i don't do competitive and even in Doom Eternal or Overwatch in casual PvP zero issues )

also recently i use my MX Ergo trackball for almost everything, quoting a friend we thought crazy back in 2004 "i can play anything on my Logitech Trackman, from WoW to CS 1.5" and he did it with panache!
well some say the MX Ergo low dpi make her less suited than the M570 for games ... nope .. not at all :D 2048dpi isjust 452dpi shy of what i usually use but well ... a ball roll is faster than a drag on a mousemat

but for those who need the dpi upgrade the new version is technically priced like the old one (at last for me ) with upgraded switches (well ... what's 50mio clicks more  )

subjective  for me she's really comfortable, i have big hands
no offenses but i want to correct one thing tho : "Gawd i find that mouse awful looking..." is what you wanted to write ;)
