CaseLabs, one of the OG brands in the PC gaming community, went bankrupt in 2018 amid the supposed Trump tariffs, which pushed aluminium prices over 80% higher. With the company using aluminium as its exclusive material for cases, the high pricing structure of the source material forced the company to close. However, recently we have heard some rumors of CaseLabs making a comeback with the new ownership. Today, it seems like the new owner posted an online survey to get a better insight into the brand's legacy and just how valuable it is was to consumers.

Many will recall that CaseLabs made very modular cases designed for extreme water cooling. Many developed powerful rigs inside CaseLabs cases, with many still in use, thanks to the quality of the product. The new owner is Emil Rytterstedt, according to sources close to Gamers Nexus. And today, we assume that it is precisely this person that posted an online survey to get a better grasp of the community. You can check out the survey here and enter your thoughts on the brand.

So. Damn. Excited.

They've got some catching up to do given the changes in the market since their departure, but I'm getting the feels about this new ownership. I think we'll see great things!

Assuming that this is real, I sincerely hope they plan to update their designs to account for current trends like USB-C, flexible drive, PSU & GPU mounting, as well as a line of cases made for air & AIO cooling and not just water.....

If they can do these things, at reasonable prices (maybe use some materials other than all-alum.) then I will certainly look forward to see what they can offer :)

You can check out the survey here
was there supposed to be an active link here ? cause it aint, hehehe :)

He's still waiting on the designs, but said stuff like vertical GPU mounts are in the plans already. USB-C shouldn't be hard either. Most Caselabs are already decent for air if configured properly - it's just that some elitists back in the day couldn't wrap their heads around the fact that some people want to try something different in a case that big. Plus, every custom loop uses air as a stepping stone while waiting for parts

Allegedly the first ones to come back will be the original cases, so if you're wanting radical design/material changes then you might be waiting a while, since we're already going to be waiting awhile (1-2 years at very minimum) for the OGs.

Somehow I doubt all the original lines will come back to production at the same time. So make sure to voice your thoughts and vouch for the cases you wanna see return!

I mean, I'm happy if Caselabs actually returns, but their aesthetic has always struck me as being for people who look at an empty aircraft hangar and think "yes, that's what my PC should look like". I would really love to see them try their hands on some (real) SFF cases, as I think they could bring some unique stuff to that space.

Case Labs coming back would be a welcome change to the case market. So many cases out there that look good, but waste potential clearance for radiators, pumps and other cooling components. Something that's modular and WAY more flexible would get my money for sure.

does not escape the fact that it means there will be even more big boxes on the market.

I took the survey. As i said on that, reasonable prices, better western European availability, specially UK, better accessories with the cases, slot covers, PCI slot cover, not an extra, and more Matx/Itx sizes, not just massive Eatx monsters that not everyonee needs.

Then buy a non-CaseLabs case. Massive EATX cases are what CaseLabs did well.

Mercury S3, Nova X2M, Bullet BH2 say otherwise :) granted all of those are still relatively cavernous except for the BH2, which is just 0.2L over the mark for SFF. But honestly, not sure I want to see CL try desperately to fit in with something below 20L just for the sake of being below 20L. MFF 20-40L is just fine.

I'm secretly hoping that the design repository he's waiting on will include the files for the prototype Nova X2, it's a shame it never came to market. Once he gets the files, much of the plans moving forward will become much clearer.

There were the Bullet and Nova series, too. Hey IRC the BH7 was only 32L with full ATX support.

Wouldn’t mind a SFF case, either.

PLEASE make more horizontally-friendly cases. Anything up to $500 max, pretty much.

Caselabs died because they priced themselves out of the market, once competitors started making similar cases at lower prices they didn't try to compete.
