Wait. Didn't the problem as described change from
"high idle with multiple displays"
to
"high idle with [one] display with high resolution and refresh rate"
?
to be honest I am not sure, but I plan to have a setup with two monitors eventually anyway.
my main issue is with the vram downclocking in older games like starcraft 2, I read on other forums how a 6800 xt out performs a 7900 xt in world of warcraft for similar reasons.
next gen is just a major fucking headache, so I am giving up. i would have never sold my 6800 xt had I known about this vram downclocking issue for older games. cause every time i come close to buying that 4070 ti i look at that price tag, vram size, and performance for what I am paying for... and it just doesn't seem right.
so fuck it all.
