Microsoft has started to sell a limited selection of replacement parts for Surface devices in the United States, Canada, and France—more regions will be added in the future. The company's online store now presents listings for replacement displays, batteries, SSDs and several other internal pieces. Brave customers can now perform repairs on their out-of-warranty Surface models, which saves on a trip to local shop or a costly return back to base. Tim McGuiggan, Microsoft's vice president of device services and product engineering stated: "We are excited to offer replacement components to technically inclined consumers for out-of-warranty self repair. When purchasing a replacement component, you will receive the part and relevant collateral components (such as screws if applicable)."

The various offerings of spare parts for Surface tablets, laptops, and all-in-one systems heavily favors Microsoft's fairly new 9-series. For example, the Surface Pro 9 is well catered for with an impressive selection of kickstands, displays, batteries, ports, protective covers, speakers, networking components, and cameras. Owners of the older Surface Pro 7 (2019) are limited to a single kickstand. A continued partnership with iFixit also provides a means to sell official tools for repair purposes and installation of replacement parts. It should be noted that some of the items listed on the Microsoft Store are very expensive—a Surface Studio 2 Plus replacement screen will knock you back $1749.99. The fanciest Surface Pro 9 screen is $362.99, while its spare batteries are $237.99 for an Intel variant, and $249.99 for Arm models.

$237+ for a battery?
What in the actual **** are they smoking?!

They should just have a huge button under the replacement parts that says:
(Best Value) Buy a new Surface Tablet

Also, why does the camera replacement kit include a full HSF assembly, and is well-over $100?

Not even joking, this makes me wonder if whoever was put in charge of this was either on illicit substances or has a bad prescription that needs adjusting.
Clearly, a disturbed mind set up the availability and pricing here.

They don't really want to sell them, that is why they are not separate parts.

They're smoking way too much of the BS they are shoveling.

Make no mistake, this is a step in the right direction. However, price gouging is unacceptable. They might as well not offer replacement parts if they're going to overcharge for those parts..

I guess this answers the question to what smoking "Great Dane" would be like.

I agree, blatant price gouging to take advantage of folks that don't know better or know of any other place/outlet to get parts from.

It's priced so what you may have now is not worth fixing.
Priced instead to drive sales of new stuff but if you're going to insist on keeping what you've got instead of just buying new, they'll get you there too with this so it's nothing but "Cha-Ching" all the way to the bank for them either way you go.

This isn't new, the auto industry as well as electronics or really any other industry makes a tonne through spare parts! The margins on some of those things are actually effin insane, talking about first party stuff not generics or knock offs.

As if spare parts in printing industry are any better. Got a Canon 6020B laser printer with a dead communication board laying around, brand new part quotation costs quite more than buying the whole printer off the shelf right now same model with three year warranty.....talk about e-waste. And a water-in-the-fuel censor I checked for my car goes abour 1$ at Alibaba, which means @1688.com probably comes at 0.50 cents out of the factory to be sold here at over 30 EUR.....DAT MARGIN maaan spicy...
