It's the moment you've been waiting for...Update 2.0 for Cyberpunk 2077 is coming on September 21! With the new update we have completely redesigned the perks and skill trees to give you the freedom and flexibility to become the cyberpunk that you truly want to be. With a range of brand-new abilities that open up unique approaches to combat, stealth, hacking, and more, you'll be able to take down your foes in exciting, creative ways that they won't ever see coming! Our vision for this new system was to have fewer, but way more impactful, perks for players to choose from. Instead of getting multiple low percentage increases to your damage, you will now get many opportunities to unlock completely different abilities that modify the way you play.

Everyone who continues their playthrough after downloading Update 2.0 will have the one-time chance to redistribute all of their attribute points in order to adapt to the new system. Perk points can be redistributed at any point outside of combat. With so many new ways to build your character, we wanted players to experiment with their attributes and perk points without the need to commit to it in-game.

For this, we created the Cyberpunk 2077 Build Planner. It's a fully fledged system that works in your browser—with it, you can plan out and theorycraft many different builds for your personal Cyberpunk character. If you're particularly proud of a certain build, you can even share it with your chooms!

The Build Planner includes trees from the base game as well as the Relic skill tree from Phantom Liberty—this means you can plan out your builds regardless of which version of the game you own. If you're in need of some inspiration, we asked our developers to share their favorite builds with us. Check them out in action and dive into the builds perk by perk!

Karol Matyasik, Lead Gameplay Designer—Bullet-Time Ninja: https://cp2077.ly/BulletTimeNinja

Yuliia Pryimak, Gameplay Designer—Hack-&-Slash Netrunner: https://cp2077.ly/Hack&SlashNetrunner

Filip Downar, Lead Gameplay Designer—Savage Slugger Solo: https://cp2077.ly/SavageSluggerSolo

Proud of your build? Make sure to share it with us on social media!

Could be incontinence, we're all getting old waiting for games to be made right.

TBH, though, I've been looking at playing it again. Might as well wait for this before loading it back up. I played it when it was released, and I liked it. Maybe I'll like it more?

Or it could be poor choices. Nintendo seems to do a decent job at publishing first-party titles in good condition.

The PC gaming industry seems to have taken the attitude that launching a AAA title in awful condition is an acceptable business practice in the 2020s. So we get titles like Forspoken, Gollum, and Redfall. And what end result? The Forspoken studio has been shuttered, the Gollum publisher quit developing their own in-house games, and who knows what will happen with Redfall... The venerable Volition studio (30 years) has also been shuttered after a lackluster Saints Row remake.

And PC gamers are stupid enough to keep preordering AAA titles at full MSRP, even spending extra on deluxe editions to play skankware pre-beta code in "early access". That simply encourages studios and publishers to keep shoveling out dung. It's not going to change. Videogamers are perpetually immature, mostly adolescents and people in their early twenties. P.T. Barnum would have been a great videogame executive.

Anyhow, as I understand it, the Update 2.0 is free and Phantom Liberty DLC is payware. Since you already own CP2077, I suggest you try the Update 2.0. The rewrite is allegedly substantial, perhaps bringing the original title to how it should have launched. Then you can decide if you want to shell out even more for new content.

I never owned this title but from my eyes, it was never ever worth the $60 MSRP. It was really a $25-30 game at most (in the condition it released at) which means the DLC should really be $10-15. I might consider spending $30 for a CP2077 2.0+DLC combo but not a penny more. Unfortunately for CDPR, there are many more like me out there.

They really screwed themselves and this IP's future by the way they handled the whole thing from the time they announced the game to present day. Future DLCs? Gone. Multiplayer? Gone. Great job, guys.

Yeah I will play it again when it is actually finished. Might even be quite a while past this 2.0 release and the xpac.

I'm not falling for the early buyer trap again. It really killed the experience to play something with broken mechanics. The world is just awesome to be immersed in, but the nuisance was too great to really get into it, for me. Things just didn't make sense. Levelling was a joke. Etc.

The silly thing is, you can see, feel and nearly smell the city you walk around in is proudly wearing a $60,- MSRP tag, and for good reasons too.

And then you play around in it, and you keep tripping over all the sub-budget-bin shit left and right. Its really a love-hate relationship :D

Honestly if they can make the city and the player progression / skillset come to life, this game is absolute gold.

CDPR said there won't be any additional content. They will probably fix the most egregious bugs but they really want to wash their hands of this mess. They have clearly stated that they are leaving the RED Engine behind and doing all further development on Unreal Engine.

It would be unrealistic to expect the CP2077 gameplay experience to be significantly better in October 2024 versus October 2023.

Whatever CDPR says, expect less. WAY LESS. They like to over promise and under deliver. This type of behavior comes from senior management. A fish rots from its head.

I'll make up my own mind thanks ;) CDPR is still in good standing with me. They f'ed up one release. They're shit at project planning. Sure. But they're also a company that still has a brand image to uphold, which is gamers first. That 2.0 update being free is part sell for the xpac but also part of that mentality. They're also still a studio with pretty talented people walking around.

CDPR is also the company where I banged on the door (GoG) with my 40+ hours played Cyberpunk copy and said 'gimme back ma money' because reasons / state of release not improving post launch, and I got it back. No questions asked. I repurchased the game at 20 bucks some number of months later, too.

Those are the things that count in the end. Games being shit on release... yeah, just another one on the list.

Obviously. It's your money. And you didn't even ask for refund.

CDPR is still in good standing with me. They f'ed up one release. They're shit at project planning. Sure. But they're also a company that still has a brand image to uphold, which is gamers first. That 2.0 update being free is part sell for the xpac but also part of that mentality. They're also still a studio with pretty talented people walking around.

They disappointed a lot of people. Including shareholders. And employees (many of which have left). And partners (Sony delisted the title for a while).

Fixing CP2077 isn't just for gamers, it's also to rebuild some trust amongst people who own their stock (and thus own the company). They also have to do it to let potential employees know that they are serious about putting out something that isn't completely rotten. And they need Sony Interactive Entertainment and Jim Ryan know that the company isn't just populated by a bunch of dope smoking clowns with a Magic 8-Ball. And Xbox and Company.

Who the hell wants to be embarrassed about what they do for a living when asked? That's what CDPR did to many of their employees when they released CP2077 in that appalling state.

Why would I want to work for a company that is being run by buffoons who will happily grab money in exchange for some dung?

And as a consumer, why would I want to fork over my hard earned cash? There's plenty of competition in the videogame industry. The $60 I gave to Nintendo didn't go to CDPR. Maybe someday CDPR will get some of my money, but they have to earn my trust and prove that they can put out something decent. I bought The Witcher 3 deeply discounted. I still haven't seen CP2077 discounted enough to make me want to buy it in its current state.

The videogame industry thrives off of an customer base with extremely low standards of quality. Do you think a Broadway theater could charge $200 a ticket for a production that has actors wearing torn costumes, forgetting their lines, misstepping their dance routines, an orchestra that's off tune, busted stage lights?

That's basically what CP2077 gamers who paid MSRP for this title got.

Games pretty good now since v1.5, how ever still has the odd bug but being finding it very playable. Sadly one of my main complaints about the game was and still is that the keys are not fully changeable.

Or it could be poor choices. Nintendo seems to do a decent job at publishing first-party titles in good condition.

It is $30 on GOG atm. Been having a lot of fun with it, although i still don't get why you have clothes lmao.

Yep, saved my self $30, yes it's crazy if you just chill out and just look around it's like RDO all over again HA!.

Feel good now so i did get the DLC, and if it's got as much content as the original it be worth while.

Just had to wait i guess, was always going to be some thing good was just a matter of time unlike most games what are released in a bad state.

The Phantom Liberty DLC will eventually be deeply discounted. The awful launch doomed this franchise's value. Even if the Update 2.0 fixes the original game to how it should have been launched, today's mindshare is at the point where it's simply not a $60 title.

CDPR doesn't need to convince owners of the original game like Vayra86 or AsRock. They need convince people like me who have sat on the sidelines because my wallet has remained closed to them. And if my wallet does open up, only a few dollar bills will emerge. Far less than CDPR had hoped when they came up with this IP.

And like I said, they also need to convince shareholders, employees (current and future), and partners (Sony, Microsoft, others). If CDPR sits in a meeting with a sales pitch for a title for Nintendo's next-gen console, what do you think Nintendo management's expression will be? A long stare? The Japanese are too polite to laugh. Maybe a quizzical look followed by a "We'll think about it."

"We do not accept your offer." Short and sound.
The Phantom Liberty DLC will eventually be deeply discounted
I think it will become free in a matter of months, 10 tops, if it doesn't impress. And by "impress" I mean being noticeably better than the original game should have been 3 years ago. This, most probably, will never happen. Then it comes to two possible outcomes (there are more but these two are the most possible IMHO):
A. CDPR launches another DLC, "better than Phantom Liberty."
B. CDPR stops working on further CP2077 development for whatever reason.
i still don't get why you have clothes lmao.
They offer armour... Somewhat. xD

Do you mean glitchy FSR since 1.62?

Maybe a quizzical look followed by a "We'll think about it."
This is too British for them.

No, most likely they would say "Here's a devkit agreement. Please sign at the bottom. Show us what you come up with in a year."

CDPR's track record isn't 100% horrible. They still have The Witcher franchise and Nintendo management would undoubtedly recognize the potential of future Witcher titles on the Nintendo platform.

Then it comes to two possible outcomes (there are more but these two are the most possible IMHO):
A. CDPR launches another DLC, "better than Phantom Liberty."
B. CDPR stops working on further CP2077 development for whatever reason.
CDPR has already flatly stated that there will be no additional CP2077 DLCs beyond Phantom Liberty.

They are trying to stick a fork in RED Engine. They want to be rid of it and have moved to Unreal Engine for future game development.

When a company bleeds employees, the best and the brightest are the first to leave since they can A.) see the writing on the wall, and B.) have more opportunities elsewhere.

They might be beyond the point of no return for having enough employees experienced with coding for RED Engine.

They have vaguely mentioned some sort of CP2077 sequel but it would run on Unreal Engine. It's in pre-production so really just the exploratory phase. My guess is if the Phantom Liberty DLC is poorly received and has really light sales, they might cancel all future CP2077 projects. The franchise's reputation might already be damaged beyond salvage.

"We do not accept your offer." Short and sound.

They offer armour... Somewhat. xD

Do you mean glitchy FSR since 1.62?

This is too British for them.

Mainly AI bugs, FSR yeah it flickers some but i am way beyond being picky about the crap. Don't really notice if i am actually playing and not nit picking. AI glitch some times in so many different way but the one that bugs me the most is when they walk though you or keep glitching in to you, if only they could get rid of how they error correct\path find and do it so glitch like.

AI for sure need more work that's for sure

I play at 2560x1440 all settings max, FSR on Auto with ray tracing, ray traced reflections, ray traced sun shadows and ray traced local shadows with a solid 60 for thew last 70 hours i have been playing it.

Armor yes but there is not visual reason to be bothered other wise and if you are bothered for what ever reason it's a cluster fxck.

The screenshots look great but they often do. It's during actual gameplay with moving images where one should really judge the effectiveness of a super sampling implementation.

I watch streamer play games and I know some of the video is affected by the encoding and decoding of the game window's image so it can be sent over the Interwebs to me and other viewers.

Ultimately if you are happy with the game (and your purchase), that's what really matters. While there were lots of annoying bugs in CP2077 reported (many of which were ironed out), the loudest and most persistent complaints had to do with gameplay, fundamental design decisions, combat mechanics, and a very linear story.

Those ended up being the primary reasons why I have sat on the sidelines. We'll see from Update 2.0 how much of those latter things CDPR has changed. The originally promised multiplayer is never coming.

Too many game publishers are falling short, not just CDPR. Blizzard is doing the same the thing with Overwatch 2: over promising and under delivering because the gaming consumer is willingly shells out hard money for half-baked efforts. Gamers standards are so incredibly low, they just reward and perpetuate incompetence. So many broken promises.

My 6700 XT merely falls behind 35 FPS at such settings, eh.

Run it at 3072x1728 all settings High + FSR: Quality with no RT on a 31.5" 1080p display. Graphics level ain't impressive at all but it works, innit?
AI glitch some times in so many different way but the one that bugs me the most is when they walk though you or keep glitching in to you, if only they could get rid of how they error correct\path find and do it so glitch like.
I find this mega funny and thus, I want this bug/feature to be a toggle and not a completely gor rid of bug. Preserve doomed to fail AI for those who consider this game a genuine comedy and let normal people enjoy normally functioning AI. Would be amazing.

"Photo mode" + "Immersive First Person" mods. But yeah, these are weak reasons.
the effectiveness of a super sampling implementation
DLSS works great in this game. 4K + DLSS: Quality is by no mean inferior to just 4K. 1440p + DLSS: Quality is completely fine as well. Native 1440p is somewhat better of course but it's very hard to tell the difference. At 1080p, it's obviously a digital mess even on the highest quality preset. Tested on RTX 3060.

FSR has an annoying bug and thus is for all intents and purposes a band aid rather than something great. But if we ignore that bug, 4K + FSR: Quality looks very good. 1440p + FSR: Quality looks good, yet is inferior to native rendering since it lacks image stability a little. Tested on GTX 1080 Ti, RX 480, RX 6700 XT.

XeSS is useless or borderline useless on anything that is not an Arc GPU; no clue how exactly well it's played on Arc ones. Never tested myself. Tested on RX 480 (impacts performance to the level it becomes unplayable) and on RX 6700 XT (below 10% speed improvement with a little noisier image).

Regarding 10% boost with XeSS: expected speed boost at "Quality" presets is at least 20% compared to native rendering unless you're CPU+RAM bound. At 1440p maxed out, my GPU runs 56 FPS. At 1440p maxed out + FSR: Quality, framerate is 67 FPS. The higher the resolution and the lower the settings the more efficient FSR gets.

CDPR said there won't be any additional content. They will probably fix the most egregious bugs but they really want to wash their hands of this mess. They have clearly stated that they are leaving the RED Engine behind and doing all further development on Unreal Engine.
This was one of the worst decisions IMHO. Not because one engine is better than the other, Red Engine is threaded very well, unlike UE.
This was a bad statement because the game came rushed and clearly needed more time so instead of taking the time for the next game they're going to ditch an engine they've worked on for years and built their reputation with to switch to UE so they can make games faster instead of better... such a bad bad look in my eyes.

Gamers do have standards, just look at the "smaller" studios or publisher that went bankrupt/got dismantled over the years after delivering consecutive fails. The exceptions are either coming from studios that did enough good work in the past to enjoy nostalgia/hope (I'm looking at you Pokémon) from gamers or are generating enough money elsewhere to not be affected by a few bad games.

Cyberpunk was the former, huge sales at the start from the hype/trust, then shamed, started to work on several fix, edgerunner came out and generated another spike in sales. But a studio that keep releasing failure after failure isn't going to be sustainable on the long run, especially when game dev budget is skyrocketing, and good employees leave once they figure out that the studio culture isn't about making good games anymore. At some point the money spend on the game will be much higher than the sales figures.

Square-Enix is for exemple is piggy backing on FFXIV and their mobile games, but they are not doing that hot overall because they got punished by their failures. They "gently killed" the studio responsible for forespoken, got rid of their western studios, got rid of the CEO that was getting too excited by games with NFTs, and are trying to see how they can fix their internal mess. Uh, looking at Steam statistics is good when you know what those numbers are representing. I'm not sure you do. Steam only tracks the number of players using their launcher.

Overwatch 2 has been on Activision-Blizzard's Battle.net launcher since launch. It's also on consoles: PlayStation, Xbox, even little ol' Switch. I don't see The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom registered in Steam statistics nor do I see the Switch in Steam's periodic hardware survey results even though Nintendo has sold over 125 million units.

So yeah, dorky dude playing Overwatch 2 on his Steam Deck shows up, but the gamer girl on the other side of the coffee shop with her Switch does not. If they are both having fun, it doesn't matter anyhow. (She paid less though for her hardware.)

Same thing with other titles. I actually have Shadow of the Tomb Raider both on Steam (where I purchased it) and Epic Game Launcher (where it was a free holiday giveaway a while ago). If I fire up the game with Epic's launcher, I won't be a Steam statistic.

As I said Overwatch 2 has lots of problems. But it is still more popular than TF2 (which is a great game).

'Twas an amusing read though even if your reasoning wasn't sound.

Looks good man. Here's one I took recently to compare when the new patch drops.... I'd only get like 5 more FPS with the 4090 at 450w btw so not worth it.

Expecting a performance hit tbh. will will see and as seen as i did not get it from Steam i can play the older version so there is that :).

There is a point you just better saying fxck it and just play instead of micromanaging every thing, the odd blinking texture you don't notice if your actually playing. What i do notice and will bug me is jagged edges and i don't remember seeing any.

Yeah that was an oversight, I forgot about the battle.net launcher, but even for a multiplayer/launcher game, it's not that high compared to the other multiplatform/multi launcher FPS like Apex legends. (Unless the EA app is really so bad, and the blizzard app so good that there's such an imbalance. I haven't touched a blizzard or EA game in age, so I don't know. But Apex legends wasn't available on steam when it launched)

i just really don't think that gamers have become such dirt eaters, that bad releases have no impact at all (besides the exceptions that I've mentioned). The tricky part with entertainment, is that some variation of bad can become entertaining for some people. But sometimes stuff like Gollum happens, and well...rip Daedalic Entertainment

As mentioned by the previous reply, those are just the players using Steam to launch OW2.

These numbers seem to be realistic:

These numbers are more or less correct. Most controller players use Steam for Apex due to the gamepad wrapper. A few (around 400 out of the 750 of the Predator-rank PC players) still use the EA Games/Origin app as it is restricted for some professional scrimmages and tournaments. Take note that this does not include console players, which are actually a lot more than the PC playerbase (estimate is around 70%).

EDIT: Also a lot of players smurf. For example I have an account that I exclusively play only with controllers for practice, but my main account is KBM.
