Benchmark Scores I once clocked a Celeron-300A to 564MHz on an Abit BE6 and it scored over 9000.
It's definitely worth trying the R5 3600 instead of the 5900X to see if it'll handle DDR4-3600 XPM/DOCP settings. I believe an 1800MHz FCKL for DDR4-3600 ought to be stable on most, if not all R5 3600s. It was definitely the sweet spot AMD claimed for Zen2 RAM and I presume that means most samples will be stable at an 1800MHz FCLK.
  • If it doesn't work then it's probably the B550-F being picky about the RAM, or possibly the RAM was damaged by the old board as it was dying.
  • If the older CPU works fine with DDR4-3600, then you know the RAM is good and you know the Asus B550-F is good but you have to accept that your 5900X is a wounded soldier.
It's fortunate that you have spare hardware to swap and test with - it genuinely makes stuff so much easier to narrow down.

Hi Marcus i previously had a gigabyte b550 gaming x v2 with a bios of f15a and it worked fine until the last 2 weeks or so when i started to have problems like constant restarts for no reason then it all died on me and would not restart at all and the only other cpus i have are an old amd 2600x and 3600

well i can use the mobo as is at present i just can not oc the cpu
You can't really use it at present though can you as it crashes as soon as you change the RAM speed or SOC voltage, there is something wrong with your hardware and buying new RAM following a motherboard isn't likely going to fix your problem, or at least you could be sure that that is the problem before spending money on it, test out the AMD 3600 and see if you get the same behaviour, update the BIOS, run MEMtest in DOS etc, though doesn't seem like a RAM issue and I am leaning towards the CPU at this point being as it is the 2nd motherboard you have been through and are still experiencing issues, or just keep throwing money at it until you make the right guess

If you set 1.35v in bios, there is no guarantee it will provide rock solid constant 1.35v... all motherboards do this & yes even in this day & age. Try upping to 1.36-37 & test for stability.
I've had issue like this in the past & doing this solved the problem.

Same with SoCv.

Things to try.
Clear CMOS and start over. Find the memory clear setting and make sure memory training is enabled
Set XMP then lower the RAM speed 1 step.
Increase RAM voltage2 steps
Increase SoC to 1.2v
try a different bios or update again
try 1 stick of RAM only

LOL, that happens.
Actually, with the B550-F it can be a bit confusing.

If you are in the mood to hunt for ram, just look for some Samsung B-Die. My Strix -F has no problems driving my 5900X with 4x8 or 2x8 B-Die.

I like using 1.20V 3200 jedec. Definitely not tight timings, but just works at 3200 with no fuss.

Is the BIOS on the B550-F the latest one?
The latest version is 3405 for the regular "Gaming" (not "WiFi")

The RAM slots are tricky! You need to press down the side that only has the slit, then press down the side with the lever, afterwards!

Try c16 or c18 from what I remember AMD can be quite picky with odd cas latency, also what voltage are they running at when you set the XMP profile? are you 100% sure you have the sticks in the same slot as this is the 2nd set you are having the same exact issue with which points to it being something else

I can't even trust that RAM in Ryzen, as one day, Windows 11 suddenly changed the screen to sky-blue, saying "MEMORY_MANAGEMENT".

I've had a bunch of it from different vendors and it's always been Hynix, and usually CJR/DJR

that'll do it, also tightening the CPU cooler to tight bends the mobo and causes that aswell

well i know that i have not over tightened the CPU cooler and i still lost the memory to failure can only use it at standard speed of 2133mhz not the recommended 3600 mhz

You have literally skipped over lots of suggestions and questions on this thread since you started it, carry on with the guesswork though, you'll get there in the end

Note that the RAM may disappear if you flexed the motherboard, even just from re-installing the cooler. You may get a solid freeze, then boot failure with RAM LED lit after power-cycling.
