Is the new one any good?
I don't know what you consider good. It's good at the $50 price point. I would never recommend it at $130 for which I paid for mine.

My heavy hands celebrate the earlier MX518 and I have 3 of them (the originals).
These were built like little tanks. Mine are 8 to 15 years old. :)

My first mouse was a Proteus Core. Then a Lightspeed.
And because i wanted to get rid of LGHUB, i switched to Roccat (Turtle Beach) KONE XP (wired, not Air)
I don't say it's exactly the same as G502 but very near and after one or two hours, I unistalled definitely LGHUB.

Swarm (Roccat software) is way better than this crappy Logitech software and it's worth trying it to really understand.

G502 has moved definitely to my laptop bag.

I got a G900 as a replacement for a G700 that wouldn't store the profiles in the internal memory. It was way too flat and have me horrible wrist pain, so I never used it long enough to see how well it lasted. I guess a couple of Logitech mice I never used long enough, like a wired G502 I bought to use while I was stuck in Sweden during the pandemic, which only got about six months worth of use. Hated the slippery metal scroll wheel on that one though.
I had a G700 which developed clicking issues and Logitech sent me a G700s which is still my favorite mouse to date. I picked up a G502 Hero when the trend of every mouse weighing as little as possible really picked up steam. I liked the weight of the G700/s a lot and pretty much nothing new these days gets there. I'm still using it as I finally got used to it, but I have to agree the scroll wheel is the weak point.

I have the latest version of this, and it's the best mouse I've ever used. Sure, I'm no e-sport brat, but it does the job very nicely for my needs.

Ah, right, yes, it was the G700s I had that didn't save the profiles to the onboard memory, my bad. I forget all their minor model names, as there have been so many.

Personally ive stuck with the first proteus. The other mice are too light and adding the weights on the proteus makes my movements feel like their intentional
Yeah, well, that needs a HUGE intent. XD

I shouldnt need to though.
Exactly, i also had many of the same issues right out of the gate. 0 refunds too, the stores here say... does it move on the screen? Yes? Does it click on folders? Yes? No refund. Shame, i always had good Logitech stuff in the past. Their newer things just sucks. Good on paper, high on price... and bad on quality. Many people complain from it too, so i hate when people go and say - Oh, its just uuuuuuuuu!

Oh, I still have and sometimes use the 2018 model. Although I prefer the G600 because more buttons. Both are much better than the new ones (2x mx ergo; wireless hick-ups, and battery issues).

Thier older LGS was much better than GHUB.... dunno why they felt they had to change what was ok... guess they wanted flashy over function.

This is also going to annoy the hell out of me too.... Any Logi mouse I buy now, Im going to update to GHUB to get the most out of it. From what ive read on reddit, GHUB isnt particularly great to use either and there hasnt been any sort of tool from Logi or the community that makes transferring old profiles over to GHUB easier. There is a quick way to do it by copy pasting some stuff between folders, but it doesnt always seem to work

Celebrate 10 years of logi mouse developing doubling clicking. :p
That seems more likely to occur with the early Logitech G Pros. I got a later revision, the "Hero" revision and still have yet to have that issue, even with tons of Halo'ing!

Does the late revision have better switches? I have been using my G Pro Hero for so many Halo sessions.

LGS was buggy as hell, my G700s always lost it's saved profiles, wether I kept them in mouse memory, or on my PC, sometimes it would not recognize the mouse at all (usually happened when I switched from cord to wireless and vice versa (recharging the batteries). True - it was much easier to use than G HUB, but at least the latter haven't failed me once yet.

As for G502 X Lightspeed - love the performance and battery life, shape is also good (still miss the original MX700), pretty lightweight, but:
-wish they forgone those stupid crevices on the palmrest area (can feel them under my palm and needed to get used to it)
-the DPI-change buttons next to LMB could be a bit higher so it's easier to differentiate them from LMB)
-no BT (seriously?)
-scroll is loud in ratchet mode (dear Log, just make it magnetic like in MX Master)
-built-in battery instead of eg. AA one (would be easier and cheaper to swap/replace)

Wow! You're the only other person I know that owned a R.A.T. mouse... I thought it was pretty cool, but the software was rubbish. I did like the adjustments that you could make to make it fit the hand perfectly.

I had R.A.T. M.M.O, but broke the forward/backward buttons and the one on the wing. It did also have a problem with the laser, as it would occasionally stop registering moves for a few seconds. Software was manageable. Since it was really comfortable for me, I upgraded to RAT8. I also broke the forward/backward buttons on it, but I replace them from a donor dead mouse. I was using it until recently. I, personally, only knew one more person that got the MMO.

I was looking at that MMO was like uhh...naw. It had problems with the buttons it already had and couldn't imagine adding 12 more. LoL

I still use LGS for my G600 and the only bug I still encounter is the lighting bug; when making profiles and switching from onboard to software profiles.
No issues with saving profiles between different pc's.

Can just solder a new switch (I changed my G102 to Kailh). Don't get hooked and start soldering all kinds of monstrosity though.

Check this video as a start:
At least Logitech using better solder there so you have little chance ruin it when do resolder the switch

Is the new one any good?

Been good to me so far. Feels like the same old 502 mostly. Scroll wheel is a little different but it tracks just as well as my other 502s and weight is good (for me).

Now just waiting on my warranty replacement G512 Carbon keyboard. Should be here today.

PS, Would have warrantied my G502 Lightspeed, but bought it in 2020, so it was out of warranty by now. Also don't want to deal with opening it up so being able to use the rewards points I got from my BBuy credit card was nice. The G502X was on sale for $110 when I got it, so it's an OK deal there. I did buy my original G502 Lightspeed for MSRP of $140 back when it came out, it was worth it for me at the time to move from a wired G502 Proteus Spectrum to that. Turned off the LED on the mouse soon as I got it, I'd rather have battery life than a G logo that will be covered up by my hand anyway.

Just ordered one, as it went on sale locally for what is the lowest price it seems to be selling for here.

Turned off the LED on the mouse soon as I got it, I'd rather have battery life than a G logo that will be covered up by my hand anyway.

You might want to just give it a shot regardless.
I did that twice with G500/500S, and on the second one (out of warranty) they replaced it with a G502.

Still using a 502 Lightspeed here myself.
My biggest complaint is really just G-Hub, I don't even use it anymore unless I have to.

Yeah, I could, just have no use for it if I did. My youngest kid is already using my tried, true and trusty G502 Proteus Spectrum, and my oldest bought himself a Glorious Model O at some point.

Additionally, kinda funny that you are posting in this thread with that user name. :)
