Oh well, my friend Ramiro left me speechless. After 4 months of testing he put together a comprehensive article about twin-tower architecture. Unfortunately it's in Romanian but here you can go through Google translate.
You have all kind of tests, in case/open stand, from low TDP to extreme TDP, 775 vs. 1366, from fanless to extreme CFM, a study of each heatsink, a study about each heatsink mounting system, an extreme test NH-D14 vs. TRUE Copper with MX-3 and Liquid Pro and more.
If you have some questions about the article shoot and I'll try to answer/translate.

Does the Megahalems actually fit under the "twin tower" architecture? I mean unlike the other coolers like the CoGage Arrow, NH-D14, Triton 88, and IFX-14, the Mega doesn't have a fan in between the towers. I feel that they cut out the middle part of the Mega because it was useless having extra metal there when airflow doesn't really reach at particular spot due to the "dead spot" in a fan.

Awe crap! I looked but didn't see it.

I'm glad the Mega got included as it is usually considered the "one to beat" regardless of how you look at the cooling structure.

Yes, you're right it's not a true twin-tower architecture but to quote my friend's thoughts on page 2:

For this article I have the best twin-tower heatsinks on the market so for a complete test I only need a cooler for comparison. I can choose anything but the most complete heatsink before those: Megahalems.
As a supplementary observation Megashadow is somehow related with twin-tower architecture because is manufactured from two "separated branches" the only difference is the shape of branches and the way that it benefits from airflow.
