My new laptop

It's a Toshiba T4400C. 25mhz, 32mb RAM, and 320MB HD. It has the optional 9.5" colored TFT screen. I've been playing Skifree all night long.

Considering I was 6yo when this thing came out I don't really remember a ton about Win 3.11. There's no browser from what I can tell (IE came around in 1995 if I recall) and while it does supposedly come with an internal modem, I'm at a loss to find it. The port for the phone line on the side is empty so maybe this one wasn't equipped with it.

Going to be scrounging for some floppies so I can install some new software on it tonight. Namely The Oregon Trail and Word Perfect or whatever word processor was big in 1990... hopefully it's abandonware by now.

The battery has a bad cell in it from what I can tell. Completely expected of a 21yo nickle-cadmium battery. Interstate can literally build me one from scratch but it'll be in the neighborhood of $200. There are refurbs out there but I don't want an old battery, I've got an old battery and it doesn't work lol

unfortunately I don't think so. I'm not a big keyboard enthusiast but here's what it looks like under the key. I'm pretty sure I know what the key switches look like on a Cherry and these are not them. Not sure what these are called.

that'd be awesome but here's what the one internet source on the T4400C says about the battery:

Although the circuits within the T4400 that charge the two smaller batteries are very simple, in my experience these batteries never cause any problems. It is however wise to note that a machine that has not been used for quite a while looses its setup. Since the HDD type is always automatically restored the system will boot fine but you may have to reset some settings.

The main battery is the cause of problems. This battery, due to its rather rare square cells, is very expensive and needs to be treated properly to enjoy a long life. Basically it comes down to really use the battery (i.e. not using the system on mains power for too long) and use the machine on battery power until it enters AutoResume (i.e. until the battery is fully empty). The T4400C is a battery powered system so it should be used as such.
