Has anyone played it? Right now you can only get it on Impulse, at $14.99 and I gotta say I am enjoying the hell outta this indie top-down space shooter. It looks pretty good, plays smooth, and is quite enjoying.

I'd looked at the title a couple times browsing through games, and never even took interest until I was recommended to it by a friend. I read and watched a few reviews, all pretty positive and the gameplay and shooting actually looked pretty good. I can say so far I dig it...not sure if it will hold me for a long time or not...but right now I'm very pleased with my purchase and highly recommend it.

I should warn that it is another one of those indie games that are sold as a pre-order beta, meaning you have purchased an incomplete title that has the possibility to turn into vaporware...thought this one so far has proven successful. Similar to Star Ruler (indie space/sci-fi 4x rts) or even Minecraft...of course MC is much more popular of course. If you are curious, and you enjoyed games like that back when...it's imho very much worth picking up. We'll see how I feel later on, but first handful of hours in a couple of nights have been kickass.

I have two options.

a) I can steal it with the click of a finger and have no need for any annoying unwelcome DRM or 3rd party software.

b) I can buy it from impulse for a tenner GBP.

My question is, is there any 3rd party software or other drm bullshit that an honest gamer has to put up with if he wants to play this title?

I noticed nothing new beyond the game installed...I already had (Gamestop) Impulse installed. You can go to http://www.spacepiratesandzombies.com/ and try a demo before you buy.

I could care less about the DRM stuff in all honesty, I'm so sick of hearing about it...yes it blows...for those that reinstall OSes every other month, sure starforce and junk were horrid, but the most recent limited install ones have yet to give me problems.

It sounds like they're using Gamestop GOO DRM if this thread is still relevant: http://www.spacepiratesandzombies.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=246

So steal it if you want, if you like it buy it, if you want more DRM in more games, continue stealing and not buying...that's why DRM is there in the first place. So far this game has kicked ass, kicked my ass, made me enjoy getting my ass kicked and been an extremely enjoyable indie title that I recommend to you folks, If you worry about DRM, then there might be some GOO on this game lol. If you wanna pirate it, keep it outta this thread as well thank you.

Beyond that, unless there's some DEFINITE PROOF OF DRM FOR THIS TITLE THAT IS MORE RELEVANT THAN I POSTED, KEEP IT OUT OF THIS THREAD. Thanks! The DRM whiners get old, I've dealt with it for as many years as the rest of you with no issues, and most games get DRM patched out of them these days...hell before most need to even reinstall a game due to an OS install anymore...so again, if you're worried then google it for yourself, and unless you have proof, keep it out of this thread, thanks. My goal here is to share a solid indie title that is a huge timesink of pure fun for those who enjoyed top-down space shooters back in the 90's, this game is amazing in that aspect and worth every penny for the current beta build IMHO.

then there's option 3, download the demo, and buy the full version if you like it.

DRM doesn't really bother me much anymore... since I just image the drive and clone to the new hdd when needed. and most of the games i get are through steam now, or they're so old that i don't feel guilty about pirating them (i mean win9x old)

Just tried the "full demo".. games fun and def. a great time waster.. although the story is a little bleh and the gameplay gets somewhat repetitive, the new ships and weapons keep things exciting.
