Hi ppl.

http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/showthread.php?t=147586
Everything is set and running. However Im not sure about RAM.
Ive bought the Kingston HyperX DDR3 1333MHz CL7 4GB kit with 1.65V.
But they are now going on 1.5V and CL9. Freq. is 669MHz (so it is 1333MHz effec., right?)
Should I do something with that. Is it ok?

Yes they should work fine at that voltage and timings although i would run them at 1.65v CL7 as the tighter timings will help especially on an AMD system. Also what are your CPU/NB speeds?

Im not familiar with UEFI, although it looks same as my old BIOS :D. Where can I change voltage and timings? I also already installed AOD, but it looks pretty complicated for RAM settings.
CPU speed is 3250MHz, 800MHz at idle. NB 2GHz

Okay let me search for your motherboard, it might be similar to mine as we both have ASUS motherboards.
Okay i see it has different bios utility. Here is the TPU review... http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/M5A97_EVO/6.html

In the AI Tweaker panel there is a setting for DRAM Timing Control you should be able to changing the timings in there, the voltage option is DRAM Voltage it should be in the AI Tweaker panel see this link http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/M5A97_EVO/images/ai_tweaker_c.jpg

Im just looking at some pictures of the bios for your motherboard. If you could take pictures of it that would help more.

Changing CPU/NB settings to at least 2600mhz would be a good idea, you may have to bump up the voltage for CPU/NB to do this. I am at 1.375v but you might not need to go that high. The CPU/NB is the memory controller on the CPU die, the normal NB is a separate chip you can leave it at default voltage settings either 1.1v or 1.2v i think.

Thanks, right now I'm installing SP1. When Im done, Ill make screens and post here.
And how do I change CPU/NB to 2.6GHz? I guess that means OC it?
Oh and what should be def. VCORE for 955 C3? Mine is now 1.4V

Stock vcore for a 955 C3 is 1.25v (i have this cpu too)
1.4v is way to much for stock cpu speeds. Yeah when i say change CPU/NB to 2600mhz i mean overclock it. In the AI tweaker panel there is a CPU/NB Frequency option it should say 2000mhz which is stock, you can see it in this link http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/M5A97_EVO/images/ai_tweaker.jpg

Set it to 2600mhz and then increase the voltage id try 1.3v first and see if the computer will boot to desktop. If not increase the voltage up a little and see if it will boot again. Keep adding more CPU/NB voltage till it boots, when it boots it might need a little more to make it stable at full load such as playing a game. If a game crashes you will know it needs more voltage. This is what i would do when overclocking anything really.

My voltage bumps up in 0.025v notches. Not sure what yours increases by.

Sorry if your familiar with overclocking i was just posting what i did with my system so you can compare.

1,25V??? Oh... Seems I have to change it in BIOS manually? And shouldnt mobo detect the VID from CPU?

I am familiar with OC, but only on AM2 socket :D, AM3/+ is new for me. I have some tuts bookmarked.. But I have to test temps at full load first, they look pretty big at idle :/

Here are some shots (album)

VID is 1.4V. But it looks that CPU runs fine at full load also on 1.25V (and produce less heat)

/Problem is, that if I have Vcore set manually in BIOS at 1.25V, it doesnt change when CPU is at idle state. It should go on 1.025V by it stays at 1.25V.

Suggestions?
I guess UEFI is bit different at this?

//Oh also, the performance jump at games is pretty big, I tested games like TDU2 (finally fluently on medium), F1 2010, OMSI. But no change at SHIFT 2. It performs same as with my old Athlon X2 64 2.0GHz CPU, even on lowest settings. All drivers are newest.

///
http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1952249 should there be RAM speed 1333Mhz?

////
can I have it like this?

With your board you should be able to just set primary timings(7-7-7-xx), and voltage, and the BIOS will take care of the rest.

Voltage probably doesn't drop due to C1E or such tunred off, and processor states in Windows Power Profiles set to 100%. Adjust minimum power to like 5% or lwoer, can't offhand think of the lowest setting.

What should be the last digit? 7-7-7-12?
C1E is on. But AOD took care of voltages nicely.

usually 7-7-7-21 or 7-7-7-24. Check specs on the mem itself or the box, I guess.

So I should change first 4 lines to 7,7,7,20, right?

/And sorry if Im asking this again, but every HW tool for monitoring shows memory speed 667MHz. Shouldnt it show 1333MHz?

3,33x200 = 667Mhz, is that good and I have to multiply it with 2?

Yes, first 4, and yes, it's reported as 667 MHz. 1333 MHz is Dual Data Rate(DDR) rating.

Well, Im still having problem with CPU voltage. It was holding 1,25V as VID, but today, it is back at 1,4V.
I tried to set it again manually in BIOS to 1,25V, but again it doesn't undervolt at idle state. C1E and CnQ is on. What should I do? Please help.
Also what is the 'Offset voltage' settings in BIOS?

Check power settings in control panel.

OFFset voltage will add voltage to what you set, usually at all power states. so if you select .015v, and stock is 1.4v, you'll get 1.415.

Huh just got email from ASUS Technical support, saying that changing the voltage/etc. is beyond normal use and I should let it at 1.4V.. Oh..
I already checked the power settings in control panel, but it shows the same as Fusion Utility. I can only set minimum CPU speed, not voltage.
I guess Ill try the offset mode in BIOS, but with 'minus' and see what it will do

1.25v for that cpu on vcore is a bit low imo. Not all c3 chips will run at that low voltage. Id suggest leaving the voltage on auto till you get everything set the way you like it then mess around with the voltage. Does it matter if the voltage jumps around a bit?
Also if you have an option in the bios called load line calibration then turn it on.

Well, I set Offset mode to minus, set it on 0,1V, but the voltage dropped only for 0,05V. I guess I'll leave it on Auto.
fullinfusion - Well, maybe it doesn't matters, but right now I don't need to overclock, and if CPU can run stable at 1,25V at full load and produce less heat...?
And yes I have that option on, and I can adjust it in AISuite
