While it is a pleasure indeed to host this giveaway, I was not the one to aquire these games myself; credit and thanks go to DinaAngel, who has donated 3 copies of this game to be give away on techPowerUp! Obviously, this was a Stand Up move by DinaAngel, whom I didn't even know til recent days, and we all owe her a big thanks!
Multiplayer Update (8/14/13):
Multiplayer reveal was today. You can go here to watch the whole event or watch the following trailer.
Requirements: 217 posts or have been thanked 46 times, a TPU member since June 2013, and have a Steam account. You can only enter for yourself; there will be no exceptions to these rules! ALL PAST WINNERS are welcomed to enter!
To Enter:Let’s hear your favorite story about the Call of Duty franchise: how you heard of it, when you first played it, wanted to play it, first online match, first time meeting Capitan Price, how awesome you are at CoD, how you pwn the little ones, etc. Let’s get a bunch of good stories going so we can all enjoy it.
Closing Time: Saturday the 17th @5pmEST
Random: The winners will be drawn randomly with the system as follows:
To ensure everyone gets a fair shake and to minimize any potential conflict of interest while maintaining the highest level of transparency- I have drafted a new way to draw winners. The system uses (3) members and work as follows:
My hope is that this will alleviate any concerns about drawings and their legitimacy. If it works smoothly, I would like to see this become the new standard when conducting giveaways that have prizes donated by the community.
If there are any questions about this system, drop me a PM.
The system makes sure that there is no bias or other favoritism at play when winners are drawn. Winners are drawn based on a random number instead of usernames- where a possibility exists to redraw if that person doesn’t like who won, draw a friend, draw themselves, pass on new members, or skip doing a random drawing all together.[Member 1: This member creates a list of all qualified participants usernames. This list is sent to Member 2.
Member 2: Using the list of names, Member 2 will assign each entrant a unique number. A list of the usernames with the unique numbers is sent back to Person 1. The list of just the random numbers is sent to Member 3.
Member 3: Member 3 has a list of just numbers. They use Random.Org or whatever random system to select which number wins a given prize. The list of winning numbers and the associated prize is then sent back to Member 1.
Member 1: Using the lists, Member 1 ‘decodes’ the winning numbers into the winning usernames and posts the results.
The lists are sent as Private Messages through the forum. This establishes an electronic record of everything while also preventing alterations of lists after the drawing.
When the winning usernames are posted by Member 1, Member 2 can verify that the number belongs to the correct username and Member 3 verifies that the number was actually pulled as a winner.
My hope is that this will alleviate any concerns about drawings and their legitimacy. If it works smoothly, I would like to see this become the new standard when conducting giveaways that have prizes donated by the community.
If there are any questions about this system, drop me a PM.
Another big THANKS to DinaAngel for supplying these games, as well as a thanks to all the fellow members for their recent giveaways.
Our generous resident Maban is willing and able to incorporate any extra game keys into a giveaway. Please feel free to contact him if you have extra keys that you would like to giveaway, if you don't have the time to host a giveaway yourself. In fact, Maban passed on hosting this giveaway and passed along the privilege to me; I respect his decision and appreciate the opportunity!
A big thanks to all the generous people at TPU, from the moderators and staff, to the Alpha W1zz, to DinaAngel, and of course, we need to give a shoutout to the valued members of the community who makes TPU a very awesome place, who continue to share their knowledge in a friendly and amiable way! We all appreciate all your efforts!!
