Either i am very lucky or the fresh silicon is insanely good.
This OC is so far stable through all 3DMark Stresstests and Benchmarks (twice over night), a bunch of other ones like Superposition, Heaven and over 60 Hours of playing a bunch of games incl. the ones that are crashing first when the first sign of instability comes up.
the next boost bin is stable as well but another one on top is crashing.
1500 on the Memory (24Gb/s) starts to artifact. 1400 still increases benchmark scores and framerates without any issues.
Boostclock in Games is ~3045-3070MHz with spikes up to 3105MHz.

a few results:
R6 Siege goes from 242 FPS to 271 FPS.
#44 in Firestrike Ultra and #50 in GPU Score (not listed by CPU! but all 4070S ever tested)
14299 in Port Royal (13971 is the average for the 4070 Ti)
5750 in Speedway (5488 is the average for the 4070 Ti)

pretty lucky draw. too bad it's artificially limited by the 22W of extra powerlimit.

I Downgraded from my 7900XTX to this card because i wanted a lower power consumption card with only 2 fans.
I never tried pushing it, i did set a quick and dirty +120 core / +500 mem and its been rock solid stable for about 1.5 months.
Boost clocks in game are around 2925, sometimes will drop to 2875 depending on load.

Nice card, 4070S seems super efficient.

yea i was running early on 2700mhz @ .960 volts and it was only sipping 150-160watts. right now running 2800mhz @ 1.0volts and its around 180watts sometimes up to 200 depending on game.

I have this card and it OC very well as well. Mine hits 3025 of boost pretty easily. Careful of your memory, this cooler uses thick, less than ideal thermal pads.

Use curve UV in afterburner to maybe gain more. 3100@1100mv may work with your card :)

less than ideal? sure. but still perfectly fine. poeple in fiorums really think they know gpus better than the people who work on coolers for them since decades.

The higher the frequency the higher the chance of kaput given the same temperature. So, yeah, it's completely reasonable to take care of VRAM thermals before crap hits the fans. "This was designed for 110C" only works at stock clocks.

Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. You must not know how products are made, because there is this thing called price point. Corners get cut. It doesn't mean its defective, it just means you can make it better yourself... if you are into that sort of thing.

what does this even mean?
It means, "the probability of irrepairable damage." Comes from the German, "Kaputt," meaning "broken."
you act like 20c celsius is a lot for hardware.
20C is definitely not much by itself but 20C higher than usual undoubtedly is. If overclocked VRAM goes beyond 90 degrees it's on a timer. Voltage kills it faster than anything else, yet there's no way to change it so we're left with frequency and thermals. At stock frequency, 110C is ok. At OC, 110C is too much.

i speak german fluent. kaputt=broken

never heard it in an english context before.

i dont know, i trust the engineers who made it. :)

just hot air. i always oc my vram because it does more than core clock oc these daysm, since pascal. cant even hit 70 celsius with 2000 on the vram which is max on ada cards.

another dude who should have become psychologist, if you really think that because of some letter from a stranger on the internet. so tell me where do you see any indication of: Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. we are on a forum.

price doesnt matter. i dont have a 4090 either because its to expensive for my liking but that doesnt mean i say yea my 4070 ti is better than a 4090 because it was cheaper. i haven read this much dumb shit in a while tbh.

you probably said the same when ASUS shoved almost 1.6V SoC into Zen 4.
if the execs say so to gte the longest bar then so be it. the engineers surely said no dont..

its the same in any company
