My brother started having problems with his laptop. He's having random shut downs but only while playing games. He had some thermal and power throttling that we solved with repasting (now everything is under 70 degrees) and unlocking bios to be able to use throttlestop. It have the lastest BIOS and drivers installed. We think it could be a hardware problem related to the power supply or the cmos battery as i read in another forums. There is a log file attached, so guys, what do you think?
Thanks :peace:

Post screenshots of the FIVR and TPL windows so I can see your settings. Temperatures look great for an 11800H so that should not be a problem.

Are you using ThrottleStop to undervolt the CPU? That can cause stability problems if you undervolt too much. Once I see your settings I can make some suggestions.

At first he was playing at 85 degrees because the thermal paste was dry, so we thought the sudden shut downs 3 minutes after heavy load were because of heating issues. We replaced the thermal paste with liquid metal but still have the same problem.

I would set the Cache Ratio slider back to Default.

Does this problem only happen during certain games? Some Intel CPUs seem to be choking when doing shader compiles early on during some games. Do a Google search to learn more about this issue.

Intel shader compile crash

If your temperatures are OK, I would check the MMIO Lock box in the TPL window. Set Long Power PL1 to at least 60. Set Power Limit 4 to a value of 0.

Do not check the PP0 Power Limit box.

In the FIVR window you can try pushing the All Core 39 or 40 button to slow the CPU down a little. Less performance will never be noticed but this might help improve stability.

If the problem is a software bug and it only happens in some games, playing around with ThrottleStop is probably not going to fix the problem.
